  • Here's a little challenge for anyone who likes algorithms

Codemasters has published games on several platofrms (PC/360/PS3) that require unique bonus codes to unlock cheats. The game generated it's own ID and you had to call or go to the website with that code to get an unlock codes. Sounds like the activation shit some software used to use. Anyway, I'd love to see this broken, since the proper methods of getting unlock codes are both defunct. The one game I know of so far that uses this junk is Clive Barker's Jericho. I think Grid might too.

I have that game Jericho, it's a good game, put I had to use a XBox 360 controller to play it properly. I wouldn't know where to start to get an unlock code, however.

While this thread sorta caught me at a bad time, I'll have a look into the code generation of these games.

I've been retired from the reverse engineering of the 360 for some time now heh...

Then randomly after moving decided to break out a playstation 2 and start messing with it again figured I'd be spending time building something neat for it dunno if I'll ever finish but who really cares the fun is in the programming.

Anyway, Yeah... I'll see if I can find the algorithm it uses to generate the unlock codes.

I actually wanted to try and figure this out for that new game (Defiance) I wanna know why people are ripping copies of it if each disk generates the same unique code to the disk.
