  • Help connecting PS2CC to PS2rd

I am testing this on a game called Ratchet: Deadlocked and I have not been able to connect to PS2rd from PS2CC.

    What I have done,

    - Changed the IP in PS2rd's config file around multiple times.
    - Connected my PS2 to my laptop with an ethernet cable and changed the gateway in PS2rd's config file.
    - Made patch_loadmodule true instead of false and used a mastercode.
    - Used the command line ntpbclient.exe.
    - Tried booting up PS2CC depending on what state the PS2 was in (off, uLE, PS2rd menu, in-game, ect).
    - Tried this with the game Phantasy Star Universe and the connection also failed.

My IP is 10.0.1.24 on my computer and I was wondering if being connected to the internet via WiFi has had an affect on the connection to my PS2.
The mastercode and codes work fine and everything boots up and works, but it's only the connection that is a problem.
All help is appreciated! Thank you.

IIRC, those Ratchet and Clank games are programmed in an unusual way causing them to be incompatible with PS2rd (or at least with its default configuration).

If you can establish the connection using another game, you can be sure it's Ratchet's fault.

Right, I attempted to connect to GTA San Andreas and that could not connect either. I had auto_hook true because I do not have a mastercode for the game. The problem I am having is mainly just connecting to the PS2. So is LAN the best method, or connecting through the network better? Also, does it take a large amount of time to connect to PS2rd and should it connect during the menu or during the game? Thank you for replying misfire.

A direct PS2-PC Ethernet connection will always be the best setup.

The connection should be established instantly as soon as the hook (auto hook or master code) kicks in. That's when PS2rd is run in the game's background and can do its work.

Okay, I have it connected through an ethernet cable to my PC. I then run the game from PS2rd. My PC recognizes the connection as LAN. I turn on internet sharing (I have tried it off). Then I launch PS2CC and go to the LAN connection, then to details. The IP is 192.168.137.1 and the netmask is 255.255.255.0. My PC's IP is 10.0.1.24 so I put the following in PS2rd and uLE,

          IP: 192.168.137.1
          Netmask: 255.255.255.0
          Gateway: 10.0.1.24

After that I change the IP in PS2CC to 192.168.137.1. I reboot the PS2 and launch PS2rd, activate cheats, and start the game. The results are "Contacting PS2 Server..." which leaves me confused. So can you spot what I might have done wrong?

If your PS2 is directly hooked up to your PC, you don't need a gateway at all, as both PC and PS2 are in the same subnet.

So if your PC's IP is 10.0.1.24, assign 10.0.1.25 to your PS2 (or 10.0.1.30 or any valid address in your subnet that's not already in use).

To test your setup, I suggest to use uLE or ps2link. If they seem to work, give PS2rd another try.

I specifically remember also never setting a Gateway. I always left it blank, gave the pc and ps2rd's mask to 255.255.255.0, and gave them the same ###.###.###.? where all of the #'s are the same but the question mark is the only thing that is different between pc and ps2rd.

As a side note, I just did my first RAM dumps on OSX: https://twitter.com/#!/mlafeldt/stat...63642651926529

Didn't have to touch PS2rd or any other tools for this. Only building the PS2 toolchain was a bit tricky.

I just use PCSX2 for RAM dumps. Anyway I used PS2Link with:

IP 10.0.1.16 (CodeMajic uses that so I assumed it worked)
                    Net 255.255.255.0
                    Gate 10.0.1.1 (Not using LAN)

                    It connected and worked fine.

Game in use: Transformers NTSC (Not online and not a multi-elf)

I used those settings on PS2rd and PS2CC never connected. I am using PS2CC Rev 30 from the SVN server. If that has any affect on why it won't connect.
When I use ntpbclient.exe it does not connect no matter what I do. For setting the IP to connect to, I type this:
                    ntpbclient.exe -ip 10.0.1.16
It then just lists the available commands and options. I am assuming that is not what I should be typing in. Any help on what I should be typing in to set the IP?

                    Thanks.

We had a list of games that were tried that had how they worked, and ones that didn't work.

The latest version of ntpbclient allows to set the IP via the PS2_IP environment variable: https://github.com/mlafeldt/ps2rd/bl...ent/ntpbclient

To be honest I've never used PS2CC much for testing. I'm not even sure if it's compatible with PS2rd v0.5.3.

                        Both sucks, I know.

Well I got that to run and I changed the IP to 10.0.1.16, but it would not connect.

I am going to look on the compatible games list and see if it is just because of the game I am using. I tried to connect but it says database error. Is there a link you could give me for a working list of compatible games?
                            Thanks.

                            EDIT:

Nevermind, hadn't noticed bungholio's post above.

Can you ping the PS2 from your PC? (Run "ping 10.0.1.16" in cmd.exe on Windows.)

That's the very first thing I'm doing to check the connection.
