Easier to use Open PS2 Loader (for PS2 Games). It has a built-in cracker by default ...
thanks ill give it a try, i think the problem could be the cheat codes being for a different version.

id like to see if there are any tools to edit your own list without having to use a cmd prompt

    • ok i think ive sussed that it must be the codes are not for the game version i have.

is there an easier way to compile your own cheat list for the games you own.

I can grab the codes from here or use Action Replay codes because all my games are retail PAL so i can search for the sles number.

it would be great if there was an exe that could read the cbd file and you can modify/add/remove codes for games.

      • What the game? SLES or SLUS?

        • just checked the spines and theyre either sles or sces, all pal retail games not burned games.

some work great and some codes don't, but for gta san andreas (the main reason for doing this) none of them work.

if i use my action replay for some reason it causes screen issues like funny lines and distorted coloured lines and flickers, the game isnt running in 60hz or anything.

          • Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I've been very busy with life stuff but have been working on Cheat Device occasionally for a few months and am ready to share a new update.

A feature many people have asked for is now available: console-side cheat database editing! This took me a while due to how I was allocating memory in older versions but the code has been refactored to allow for editing without imposing large loading times (mainly through the use of a fixed-size object pool). Now you can add, edit, and delete games, cheats, code lines, and boot paths within Cheat Device. I've also polished the graphics routines after discovering I wasn't handling alpha values correctly. Lots of other changes have been made, such as replacing button references in the bundled cheat database with button graphics. Ex: "Press circle" is rendered as "Press O", where O is a circle button graphic.

Note that the cheat database file isn't being updated by Cheat Device yet, so any games/cheats/codes you add/edit won't persist after powering off the console. This will be implemented in the next release.

I will release updated documentation in the next few weeks, which isn't a lot of work but I need to find some time to work on it. Once things seem to be stable based on feedback and testing, the new release will bump Cheat Device to version 2.0!

            • This is great news !
Thank you for the effort in this

I tested this version and it loads perfectly the database that came with, but if I try to put a database used in previous versions it does not load, it keep showing the message "Please wait..." on screen and thats it,
this version is not compatible with older databases ?

I thought that maybe the size influenced the loading time or caused an error, but my database is only 200kb more than the one that came with.

              Thanks again

I didn't make any changes to the database format, but I forgot to mention this version has a limit 1,600 games and 175,000 cheats. These were arbitrarily picked during testing to avoid running out of memory, but I will likely increase this value in the next release.

Would you mind sending me the database file you're trying to use?

                  • I got 1 question that's bugging me for a while:

What exactly do you use with cdb-util to turn .CBD files in to .txt files and vice versa?

EDIT: Never Mind, figured it out
