Its been reported that a debug build of PS3 firmware v1.80 has been leaked to the public. What does this mean? Well, potentially it could open up the doors to many great possibilities — executing unsigned code, playing backed-up Blu-Ray games and/or movies, etc… You get the general idea.
Now — not much has stemmed from this leak just yet; however, rest assure, the great hackers are doing their thing by analyzing the bits and bytes.
