I recently switched on my Wii again after having it hibernated for... pff... nearly five, six years(?). Couple of years ago I bought the Action Replay for it. The one that came out in I think 2012 with the SD card and thought I finally give it a try to install it.
Yeah...
So I actually did exactly what is said in the manual (or in countless YouTube vids):
Checking the firmware (it is 4.3E - the one that it has to have)
Checking the date on the Wii (is the right date)
Going to the wiiar.com site choosing of course Europe, putting in the correct MAC address from my Wii and the license key from the back of the manual.
Difference: in the manual and the How to-vids you should now get a button the register. Didn't appear for me. It skipped that part and went straight to "Download Action Replay". Tried to change the MAC or licences key, but then it automatically says "Bad Values" on top of the site, so maybe they changed the registration in the last nine years. But that was the only difference in the whole process.
Put the SD card via USB slot into the computer, unziped the files to the SD card (they were the same as the ones everyone had in the YT clips) to the correct spot and put the card into the Wii. So... Normally now you would have a letter appear in the message board/calendar for the AR to be accessed. But... THAT didn't happen. I waited and let it sit for ten(?) minutes. Nothing. I skipped through a couple of months (even into the future) to look if it might pop up somewhere completely off. Nothing. The only thing that showed up normally where the preinstalled Power Save Games when going to the SD card menu.
Yeah... I redid the whole process couple of times with different methods like not unzipping the files directly to the SD card, but first to the computer, then copying them and such stuff. To no avail. Wouldn't show up.
I must say I don't know where I would have done a mistake and maybe the whole thing just doesn't work anymore, just because. So, I hope someone can give me an advice how I could get the thing to work. Would be much appreciated!
