  • DS Hacking kit

I'm thinking of getting it but I have no idea how hard it is to use, since most of the members here can hack games, I was wondering if any of you can let me know how difficult it is to use. Since I have the Eu version of Mario 64 DS, I won't be able to use the US codes.

It's really quite simple. It's almost like having the PC-N64 connectivity. However, Datel mentions it needs some intense technical waboojits.

I plan to get it, I really hope that this can bring about a new hacking era or something. I remember the golden days with PSX hacking. They did some crazy things with those gamesharks back then.

As for how easy it is, well, if you are familiar with any kind of cheat search engine it would help. It sounds like it could be a bit overwheleming to kinda just jump into it wiythout any previous hakcing experience.

All I can really do is search for values with the x-plorer from the PSX, that's really it.
Then again I can do pc games with art money and a bunch of roms.
If it's not to hard I'll give it a go.

Well I for one am hopeing for a new era in hacking. Datel is taking a step in the right direction. There is not going to be any encryption to suck the fun out of it. You will be able to look at lines of code and follow logical continuations (I assume ram view is a feature as I am told this will be "full" utills). I can only hope for a breakpoint editor.

PS2 was a big letdown. I am sure Interact sold way more Gamesharks for the PSx than Gamesharks and Codebreakers were sold for the PS2. I believe code creating hobbyists will help keep the thing (Action Replay DS) alive through thousands of hours of searching and viewing and testing. I've met dozens of people who will tell you "I don't need a cheat device to beat the game" as most young people can beat new games in a matter of days or a week. It was the unofficial codes numbering in the thousands that made your old games fun to play again. Codes that the officials would never have the time to create. Codes like Czar Dragons famous debug room in final fantasy vii.

There were several speculations on why utills for PS2 cheat utills did not come out.

              1. Pressure from Sony (I don't believe it)
              2. PS2 hacking is too complicated for the general public (STF up,if they had the same kind of code searching utils it would be easy except for the encryption)
              3. One of several measures to make things harder for their competitors (maybe)
              4. It would kinda foil their encryption thing (although it worked on gameboy with or without the encryption)
              and my belief
              5. That such utills might have opened the door for user created online cheats that would have caused much bad PR for Datel and maybe ruined online gameing.

I say even with PS3 comeing out If a PS2 hacking device like the old Gamesharkpro came out I would buy it with no questions asked and jack it all in to my pc.

Anyway I am ready for DS. SO ready.

My apologies for the "Amy" sized post

My guess is it's mostly to do with the encryption and that they were too lazy to come up with a way to disable codes when games go online. Sony didn't really give them any crap about the psx cheat devices, instead they just changed the design of the system so they wouldn't work (and also to make the hardware considerably cheaper).
