This game takes the already insane speeds in Ridge Racer 1 (made possible through a collection of cheat codes, some of which were NOT found on this site...heh heh), and turns it up to 11! The AI difficulty ramps up, as well.
When you somehow manage to complete what was the last tour on Ridge Racer 1, Ne Plus Ultra, you would probably feel pretty good about yourself.
However, Ridge Racer 2 will NOT let you off that easy. There's still another tour to go--Deus! That's right, you're pretty much racing against AI that will make you think you're racing against God Himself! Hence the name (Deus = Latin for "God"). These cars pull no punches, and will do anything you can think of to keep you from winning the race.
The game even states that only one in TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND are expected to be able to complete the final race in the Deus tour. That might be overstating things a bit, but the final race's AI doesn't use the rubber-band effect. It is practically attached to your car by the world's most powerful magnet (until it gets ahead of you, that is).
The only way you can reliably win races of this caliber is to...CHEAT. Give yourself bottomless nitrous tanks, throw the speed cap out the window, and enhance your acceleration capabilities to the point that would scare off even Top Gun pilots.
Make the game ask, "What game do you think this is, F-ZERO?!"
