  • Improved "Max Speed" code found!

The "Max Speed" code for Ridge Racer PSP (USA), 0x001B0BC6 0000003A can be improved upon by simply replacing the 3A at the end of the code to 00. This essentially removes the speed cap from all car classes, and actually enables you to push even class 1 cars to over 300 miles per hour! Beware, however--the game's rubber-band AI will eventually start snapping back at you once you reach the last two EX tours (having already completed all basic and pro tours)!

I highly suggest you play the EUR version instead (ULES 00002), as it has some even better codes--an actual "no-speed-limit" code, infinite nitrous, and the ultimate cheat: NO AI CARS! You can find those cheats on Raing3's code-archive site. Just Google "raing3 code archive", and it will be (most likely) the top result. Google still wins...sometimes.

Thanks for pointing that out, lee4.

Also, the EUR codes on raing3's site work for the US version as well. They may not, however, work for the JAP version, due to its lack of MAX tours. However, that is only a theory, and remains to be tested...by someone else (not willing to waste more HD space downloading the JAP version of a game I've already tested the US and EUR versions of).

Do NOT use the "No Speed Limit" code, as it makes all cars (including the AI) move EXTREMELY slow. Let's just say two things about their "speed" (or lack thereof): one, a 90-year-old grandmother on her way to the doctor could drive faster, and two--THE SPEEDOMETER LIES! Sure, it can go up, and up, and up, without limit, but what use is this code, anyway, when it would take you at least ten minutes to complete ONE lap of a three-lap course?! Also, your handling is even worse than a two-trailer Mack 18-wheeler which is weighing "heavy" (carrying more than the legal weight limit).

As a last note, I'm going to give you an idea of how fast each class of cars can go, based on what I believe their greatly enhanced speed caps are:

      Class 1--325 to 330 mph

      Class 2--350 to 360 mph

      Class 3--380 to 400+ mph

      Class 4--400 to 430 mph

      Class 5--420 to 450 mph

      Class 6--440 to 470(?) mph

      Special--470(?) to 500(??) mph

The Class 6 and Special figures are purely conjectural, due to the highest speed I've seen (in the Crinale, a Special-class car) being "only" 469 mph. The actual maximum speeds for Class-6 and Special-class vehicles may actually be much higher(!).

Let's just say that going at 469 mph in real life is something reserved strictly for salt-flat land-speed-record test runs. It's also venturing into the realm of fighter-jet subsonic flight speeds at low altitudes.

A theoretical super-car traveling down a deserted highway (dead straightaway, if you please) at this speed would do one of three things to the poor road (provided the vehicle doesn't crash): melt it, buckle it, or even incinerate it.

Even Germany's Autobahn isn't rated for this type of insane speed!

      Only in a video game...

One FINAL thing...it's no wonder I chose "Sonic X" as my driver name in this game! LOL
