Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Remastered iOS & Android Port Released With Brand New Levels & Boss Rush Mode
By Cauterize
After its recent announcement, Sega's highly anticipated remastering of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has arrived on mobile devices. This updated port on iOS and Android not only brings the 1992 classic up to date, but also reintroduces long lost beta levels and new modes of play.
Like Sega's previous updates to the blue hedgehog's earlier titles, enthusiastic Sonic fan/developer Christian Whitehead was brought in once more to give the timeless title the refresh it deserves. In turn this has seen Whitehead dive into the deep end of Sonic 2's archives, only to re-emerge with a playable offering of the unfinished Hidden Palace Zone - one which can only be seen in part on a Sonic 2 prototype.
Alongside this additional zone, all three playable characters, the original levels as you remember them, and two player support, Sega has also introduced one more bonus into the mix. The hardcore amongst us can finally take it upon themselves to tackle Dr Robotnik in all his glory once and for all in the mobile port's exclusive Boss Rush mode.
Needless to say we're as giddy as we were back on Sonic Tuesday all those years ago.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on iOS and Android can now be downloaded for the low cost of £1.99 and £2.18 respectively.
