  • SoulCalibur Arrives On Android

    By Cauterize

For well over a year Apple iPhone and iPad owners have been enjoying Namco's smash arcade (and Dreamcast) hit SoulCalibur on the move. Android gamers, however, have had to wait up until now to experience the eternal tale of swords and souls - one which has finally arrived at Google Play.

Originally released on Sega's console back in 1999, SoulCalibur has since become the definitive weapons-based-fighter, spanning a plethora of releases on multiple platforms. The Android offering seems to be a port of the Sega Dreamcast release, including all the memorable characters and stages from the original game, plus the added bonus of new single-player modes and an artwork museum.

Google Play Games support is also set to be introduced to this new download, allowing achievement hunters the pleasure of battering down the likes of Voldo through cheap shots with Kilik. From what we can see too, the Android port currently comes with the disappointing lack of support for external bluetooth gamepads meaning those wishing to play the game as intended are out of luck.

Too bad Soul Calibur is not on the PSN store, but is on the X360's Live Arcade.

Looks impressive but touch screen controls will suck. The first Soul Calibur is by far the best in the series with the sequels being good but gameplay doesn't compare to the first.
