  • A Mame Question...

In Mame UI64, how do I eliminate that damned annoying "Master Sound Volume" bar that appears when I push "Down" on the joystick while playine any game? (This bar does NOT appear in Mame UI32) (Yes, I know the bar vanishes when I push "Down" again, but I want ridda it completely.)

Looks like you need to configure the buttons again, namely the sound bar button. I believe it's the Tab key to open the options menu.
    Spoiler Alert! Click to view...

Thanx, Helder, but my version 0.154, has an 'options' tab in the toolbar, and there's no sound bar button in the controller map. (I'm using an Xbox 360 controller) Also, there's nothing in the 'sound' under 'options', nor anything in the dip switches nor in the general input for all games that affects it.

While playing, if you press TAB, you'll open a menu. Enter "Input (general)", then look for the option you want on either "User Interface" or "Other Controls".
Instead of looking for something that says "volume", just look at all the options and see which ones have "Down" as the assigned button. Because the option you're looking for might not even have the word "volume" in it. If you're using the keyboard it should just say "Down", if you're using a controller it should say "Joy 1 Down".

You just assigned the Down button to another option without realizing it.

Finally got ridda that annoying bar (and the accompanying sound volume change) thanx to your advice, Helder & Rey! For anyone else having this prob, here's what I did:

With a game booted up, I pressed "TAB" & "Input(General)", highlited "User Interface" & pressed "A" on my controller, highlited "On Screen Display" at the toppa the menu and pressed "A" to activate it, then pressed "A again on the Xbox 360 controller to de-configure it.(There should be arrows pointing left & right on the right of the script) Without hitting any more controller buttons, I pressed "ESC" on my keyboard a coupla times to leave the menu completely.

          Again, THANX, Guys!

BTW, I updated Mame UI to Version 0.162.0.0 & it didn't have the above problem.

It's not a problem, you accidentally modified the input for that option. It has happened to me several times since "on screen display" is the first on the input list.
