  • thirtythree's codes

Hello folks. I used to hack lots of codes (mostly N64) about 22 years ago. (I had to spell out my user name when I signed up to the forum here last week, it wouldn't allow a 2 character name. But that is fine, I kind of prefer this. For some reason only my Quake2 codes show up here, I had tons of N64 codes online way back then, the F-Zero X code list seems especially lacking... I literally have one of my N64 Gameshark Pros from back then that I haven't used in over 10 years, I'll plug it in sometime and if it hasn't erased itself I'll see what is on it.)

Anyway, I've been working on a project that involves the entire NES collection and patching lately so I've been using and having to make lots of NES Game Genie codes as a side effect of that. I should have been dropping them in here for months (especially since I use this site as a reference pretty often), but I have all of it backed up at least. I'll try and post everything new here and also get to be to my code backups eventually.

I'm starting with a code for NES Namco Ms. Pac-Man. I've seen people requesting & discussing a "turbo" code for this game for years. And here it is thanks in part to a patch a user named "forgotusername" made for Ms. Pac-Man (called On the Road to Cleopactra). Ironically the first code I post here is a 9 line code (since I kind of hate multi-line codes). I always try to make sure a shorter code is not possible. Unfortunately I don't believe that in this case it can be shorter. If anyone can end up shortening it, that would be awesome. Also if anyone ever has the chance to test any of my codes on real hardware please let me know.

I've been tearing apart the Nintendo version of Tetris on NES recently and have found some fun codes. Keep in mind that in Tetris the pieces are called T, J, Z, O, S, L, I.

The "every other piece is an S" code actually ends up being a bit more than 50% "Ss". Every even numbered piece is an S. And every odd numbered piece can randomly be any piece, like normal. Which makes the odd number piece also have a 1/7 chance of being an S as well. Therefore this code will end up giving you on average 57% Ss, not 50%. Either way it ends up being pretty fun & challenging way to easily shake Tetris up a bit with just a one line code. It's totally playable, though I would recommend focusing on clearing one line at a time and not going for Tetrises!

Speaking of not going for Tetrises, you definitely won't be doing that using either of the "garbage blocks are added as you play" codes.

This site already has a "Always Get ? Piece" code (by rimsky82) using a method that is 3 lines of code for each piece. I've been able to find another method to make it a 1 line code for 4 of the pieces and a 2 line code for the remaining 3 so I'll be posting those as well. Those kinds of codes get boring very fast though. You might think always having the line piece would be fun... it's not.

Somewhat similar is the code for having alternating S pieces and J pieces only. It seems pretty fun at first but there is a pattern for getting an all clear every 20 pieces, so kind of boring after you find that. It's mostly interesting in that it is just a 1 line code.

There's also a code for "disabling" the Z and S blocks entirely that I know some people will enjoy. There is a code already on the site (Disable I Piece by nolberto82) which uses related addresses, so I use the same code description naming scheme as that one even though the codes are technically doing something slightly different than just "disabling"; though the end result is that.

I'm not a fan of codes that are basically useless and/or pointless, but here are a couple that someone might have fun with. I suppose the "playfield is invisible" code would be good for someone that has an absolutely amazing memory to show off... The "Lines Do Not Always Clear" code I will eventually attempt to use in a "clearing more than one line at a time is punished" code but it will be tricky. (Also, I'm including a code where I almost found a 1 line code for "Always I Piece" but it unfortunately starts with 2 T pieces, but it might be handing for someone that is using an actual game genie on real hardware since and doesn't want to enter the longer 2 line code.)

Hey everyone, back again. I have been working on Final Fantasy 2 NES.

These are all codes that only work when starting a New Game and then last for your entire game after you save.

On the first several codes I show which code is the more important "one line version" for people who are literally entering them into real hardware. And, for instance, people who probably don't care about the difference between 9,961,872 Gold and 9,999,999 Gold; or between 9758 HP and 9999 HP!!

The HP & MP codes should be used with the Gold code so that the party can stay at the Inn when the game starts (this game has Tom Nook style innkeepers). That saves having to add another 20 codes for no reason and it also prevents trouble with the forced fight at the start of the game.

The weapon skill codes revert to the actual max weapon skill level of 16 after a battle. But interestingly they work at 99 for that battle. So you could, for instance, keep several of your weapon uses at 99 for boss battles! (In other words, don't equip that weapon until right before a boss). Pretty cool.

I've been busy but I had enough time to post this real fast.

In the current codes on this site for NES Tetris there is this code:

In Game B You Only Need To Touch Something by Unknown

              AASEGYIO

That is not the correct code. That does not work.

Here is the correct version of that code:

              AASEGYIZ

I was working on NES Galaga because I needed 3 codes in particular. Shoot more than 2 shots at a time. Screen wrap (like the above Galaxian code). I failed to find both of those.

And this third one is a bit harder to explain. In Galaga when your bullet hits the enemy the bullet stops. I needed the bullet to continue through and kill multiple enemies. The interesting thing is I did find the code but only for the second ships bullet and it only performs that way if the first ships bullet does not hit anything else. It is still interesting seeing how powerful it is. It even kills those enemies that require 2 normal shots.

Either way, I failed at finding any of the three codes I needed, but I did find tons of interesting stuff.

                  ---------------------

Galaga - Demons of Death (U) - NES

twin fire with a stronger than normal 2nd bullet (it can take out multiple enemies if it hits by itself)

                  AEKTAAZA

bullets screen wrap until they hit something

                  AEUVIAZA

shoot diagonally (use with bullets screen wrap code)

                  GEXTPAZA

shoot diagonally to the left (use with bullets screen wrap code)

                  PEXVTATA

shoot diagonally to the right (use with bullets screen wrap code)

                  AAVVGAZA

only some bullets shoot diagonally to the right

                  AAVTZAYE

                  enemies behave erratically

                  TEVIOYIA

enemies turn into your ship when they swoop

                  AESIXYGA

                  enemy swoop behavior changes

                  PESIXYGA

                  some bullets turn into mines

                  YEKTAAZA

                  crazy bullets

                  ZEUVAAIA

bullets start higher allowing you to shoot a bit faster

                  NYNTGAZA
