  • What would you want on a message board?

There is a chance of a custom message board being made, and I want to know what features it should have.

Post here any and all ideas you can think of, even if the idea is completely insane.

Completely insane, huh...sounds like I can do that.

Maybe make some unique privledges that can be 'bought' with points garnered from submitting codes? I can't think up even 1 system that could avoid abuse without being a burden, but it's an idea.

A way to let moderators arbitrarily decide to promote certain users in recognition of the fact that they're submitting codes, or filling requests. Something along the lines of giving someone titles based on a points system concerning how many people they help, and how many codes they produced. Helping people with specific code requests would be worth more.

The ability to make a forum that depends on an assigned level, such as a Game Genie Hacker Only forum, or a Code Beta Testing forum. Though this is already feasable with this forum, it would lead to additional work on someone's part, as admission would have to be managed, and criteria checked. Could be combined with an above idea.

Make the sign up process ask a simple logic question from a list("If you open a door, and a wall blocks the way, can you walk out the door? type out a word as a response"), so computers and people who don't understand the concept of doors can't sign up.
This reality is mine. Go hallucinate your own.

I think it would be good to give a promoted status when they submit a code.Hacker or something, and maybe hardcore hacker or something when they submit a good amount of codes.

Heh, those are interesting ideas, though especially the one about privledges that can be bought for the obvious reason might be impractical... Ideas even like that are useful.

The usage of logic questions to prevent bots from registering is a good idea, even if it could be defeated by somebody seeing what possible answers there are. Doing something of that sort makes more sense than hard to read alphanumeric codes which will eventually be readable by software.

Interesting ideas.... but some not very pratical.... as was said, I mean no disrespect but really, we have to look at real life of all this technology stuff.

I mean well, the NES (or any other 'older' retro game system) is dying, and the shopping malls as far as NES parts and 'working' NES systems are 'closed'. Yes can still do all that on the PC with emulators, but those are also becomming rare as well, as is, the newer now even older systems themselfs are showing age, everyone wants to hack the PS2 now, and we have not even stepped anywhere into that, a few hit and misses, but mostly misses alot indeed that GM0 never comes by anymore, much less provides anything that is really asked for code wise, no not being a smart ass, just being well rather honest.

As for the rest of us, we have not exactly many of us stepped into the PS2 otherwise, anyway. Not knocking it, but just the way of life, not sure who all here has a PS2 by now, I know saldy LMZ has not got ahold of one yet and him with one, would indeed be soemthing as far as that goes.... maybe within time, but otherwise.... the whole point is really.

The whole point is 'really' why make anything special for 'hackers' I mean well yes everyone here who is an admin/mod IS an hacker of soem game machines and code types, but there does not really need to be this 'secret' club type of thing. I mean yes it sounds nice, and is nice, but hey we can do that already now anyway, no need to make a race out of it all. Look at it this way, we have a few members here, more then a few, but how many are 'hackers' and how many come here for codes see the 'hacker secret club' (or would) and after askign a few times for a code and not getting it, would desert the place, as alot have over the years?

So really all that plus just look at it from a newbie point of view, no one wants to coem to a message board and see ranks of everyon, a rank that they could and would never get to due to them not being a hacker. Otherwise we 'already' have that mess....we do have custom statuses here, not only member or admin or mod...so I would say and think that fits that well enough.

Again nothing wrong with it, but we kind of already ahve that, not saying who has the most codes or anything, but still, would it really be wise to start that type of 'race' thing here----that could get dirty rather fast.

PLUS how would codes be counted? I mean okay now do not take this wrong, but some systems are ALOT harder to ahck then others, a PSX GameShark type code s way MORE important then a Game Genie code. Then other things on the codes also is judged for it's importance. Now this is not knocking any code hacker, just my own personal opinions, but just seems less of a 'thing' then is. This 'may' be a personal thing really, but again just as is, soem codes are indeed more important. The Name Changes that SAVE on Chrono Trigger made by LMZ, and the Fifth Element codes made by Hybrid are well to me ALOT more important then some other codes out there...the 'no shadow' for Alucard on Castlevania... now even I must say...hey what is the point to that? Those Tomb Raider Codes made by Lugi... now he is an Okay hacker I am sure, but such a long ass code to do what make enemies 'immortal' on ONE only level of the game...again what the heck is and would be the point.

Flat and simple, if the whole thing about tooting the own horn of hacker's comes in, I am sorry to be the messager of abd news, but they had better be alot more ranks then 'ultimate code hacker' there should be lame ass code maker and all other mess.

Again no this is not to sound cold, some GREAT exclusive codes are indeed here, but as far as 'this race' to see who is the all in all ultimate code hacker.... from a woman, so sorry this seems more like a dick length judgeing contest. But again IF that is amde, should have a thing where every one who registeres here can and will give each code hacker a 'grade' on their codes...and again if that is done, so sorry to say, but we all know that could get dirty fast....

Now otherwise, as for my own ideas as to what is wanted for a new message board/forums type, I have a few and away from my sad to report feelings how it would turn out above.

I would like post numbers 'transfered' over (Ofcorse) and otherwise a 'way' to not show the world we just made the forums, like no join dates viewible or such.... nothing big, just as the world is, they would and do judge the whole world on the 'newbie' statues, and that is well to be avoided.

Not to over step here also, but 'large' avatar sizes welcomed (within reason ofcorse)

Profiles of deeper content, like allow an image (larger one now) in our profiles, allow alot more imput without 'true limits' So the profile could truely be set up like a true portfolio maybe as well.

Otherwise, just 'plug ins' now but soemthing that would be nice, I think anyway, maybe 'lame' to otehrs, but well anything was asked for here heh

I'd say 'sex icons' err somethign GSCCC.com 'used' to have a while back, I mean well a little icon to tell if you are a female or a male, again nto really needed, but it does not here, but other places get kind of confusing. (This is from a recent message baord thing where I called a 'person' with a Milla Jovovich avatar a 'he' and they got all pissy and upset and demanded to be called what they were a 'girl'. I stold them simply, 'sorry' but who would of thought a real woman would be on any message board and NOT show their true face----kind of putting my own believf on it but still, I did think, you can understand, heck this is a boy with the hots for Milla Jovovich....I mean I LOVE Milla Jovovich the BEST of anyone, and I would NEVER used her face as an avatar, sig, yes but avatar... just soemthing I do not quite get really, so sex icons please.

Flags also (Like national flags, or other icons one can have beside their name? Saw this alot on some forums as well. I have seen well 'alot' of flag types, from almost any nation to the Jolly Rodger even and even Final Fantasy flags as well.

Anyway that is a few of my ideas, I would like to see, as well, sorry but my opinion on the whol code thing, an okay thing, but 'really' could get nasty fast, and otherwise, we can get the admins other wise as he has done in the past (LMZ I mean) set any custom status and all else otherwise.)

What would you want on a message board?

I still think at this point, and for at least the near future... Hacking playstation 2 is rather a bad joke... I still get people emailing me here and there wanting me to hack ps2 games for them, and they tend to get pissed off when I tell them it's not really practical. It wouldn't really matter if I had a ps2 or not, hacking it isn't something that would make sense yet...

What I had meant to say before, was that the ideas were useful as I might think of other things somehow vaugely related... But it was 3 am, and that kind of didn't work out too well...

Hmm...well, CMP has been hacking PS2 decently...I'm just too lazy to go to the lengths they go...for the few resources they glean. I just really wish I could do more toward building a device.
              I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

What would you want on a message board?

Yes, that CMP place is pretty decent for hacking PS2 codes, I mean well doing a request does not mean you will get anywhere as of yet there, but things seem to be looking up there as far as the PS2 hacking goes.

All in all, I must say, and not in a bad way...it may sound bad, but is not as bad as it sounds really. (Again sorry but personal opinion, I do think that CodeMaster guy does not really put his soul into what he himself wanted as his career, yeah he makes some codes, but request wise, I must say, I not seen 'anything' of practical use really. Sad that he being one with all that code mess and programs needed to pull of somethings rather great, he still and always just does old hum code mess for the most part. I mean otherwise the others over there work really hard at codes for the PS2.

All in all, excuse me again, I told you it would sound bad, but it is like this pretty much, a small little scenario here....

It is like take myself, and someone else here (anyone really) who is not in anyway in gymnastics or acrobatics, now, let's have a gymnastics challege showdown. 'you' whomever 'the 'you' happens to be goes out there, and not even sure if you can do a salto and land on your feet or not...but say you try. (by the way a salto is a 'flip' in the air and landing on the feet, it is NOT called a somersault like many believe for some odd reason, a true somersault, is simply 'rolling' on the ground, and yes I am serious, that in gymnastics and otherwise in dictornaies is what it means, or was supposed to mean when the word was well 'made' or whatever.

Anyway back to this scenario thing, say anyone who does not know anything about gymnastics goes up against me, I may not do it in compitition any more, but still am able to do alot of the enat tricks and otherwise. Anyway the whole thing with that CMX guy is like taking him and one of the others over there who tries so hard to make codes and such and it is masked of putting me up against well again anyone who does not know gymnastics.

It is like doing that, and then, me saying heck this is no compitition, so I walk out there do one single saltoe and say I am done, knowing it would beat with ease the other person. Well, that as I see it sadly, is what that code master guy does, he does not try to do any 'great' codes frankly because well he has no one to threathen his place on the throne.

Again sorry to say, but it is true, and datel, codejunkies, and madcats game shark is in no way a threat also.... look how far behind they are even amongst GSCCC which is way slow assed anyway also. those other places, are places with BETTER paid hackers even and a few more of them at that...it is just well kind of stupid. (that 'nick' guy from datel makes a HUGE ammount more money the code master and hell, that nick guy has not done shit code wise sense December.)

Anyway, as is, well maybe PS2 hacking will come, there seems to be more excitment over at that CMP place due to the hope and word of getting a encrytion deviice soon that will help alot in the PS2 code front.

Otherwise, and on to other topics in this topic, I agree, with Lazy about sadly, the whole PS2 hacking mess may still prove to be 'dead' like DreamCast hacking is. Game Systems in's and out's and what is alive and what is dead moves so fast it seems these days, I know it has been years but the gameCube, XBox and PS2 still seem 'new' to me.... but in reality, heck, these systems are dying or rather pretty much DEAD now. After Novemeber of 2006 nothing 'new' for these systems at all anymore....yeah that is a ways off, but still, will all come pretty darn fast.

So looking into the real dream here about making a cheat device should be ofcorse always the main focus. Not sure what system it shall be for, PS3 release was 'pulled' but still... they are now claiming that to be like the XBox and no cheating allowed (which is stupid----but then again 99% of the time, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft ofcorse is stupid.) Again not really sure, but I do believe that is the road they want to go.... again sad and stupid, really sad and stupid.

Again rather sad, and I am sorry for voicing my feelings on some things here, but well just the way it seems to me anyway....

I will steal a line from a movie, The Movie 'Day Of The Dead' even.... and that line is "All the shopping Malls are closed".... Pretty much each time I see that movie now and hear that line, I always think about the missed good old days of GSCCC even, you remember those days....the days when you requested a code and several hackers were always around to help, no game was 'rare' everyone had a GSPro and codes were in their hay day....you remember those good old days, not knocking times today, but on the time and code wise, as far as what systems are 'in' just not sure we will see those types of days again.
