  • Site Upgrading/Maintenance - 8/12

I've been busy the last month with real life. Before that, I had completely altered the way codes are processed and stored, but I haven't made the changes live yet.

I think today I'm going to make it live, and fix problems as I see them. This can mean that you may come across features that are broken, for instance I know exporting will probably be broken.

The forum won't break, as I'm not touching it. And, you should still be able to at least view the codes in their original format. But features like converting to other formats, adding new codes, and like I said, exporting, may be broken for a time.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but I think it will be worth the trouble.

    Update-

I've made a lot of changes, especially with how codes are converted. There are still plenty of bugs to fix, but everything seems to be somewhat unbroken for now.

Please report any bugs here, especially pertaining to code conversion.

Excellent news! I'll be sure to explore the site a bit and report any errors, bugs or glitches that I come across.

That said... I am off to the Playstation 1 section. Good luck!
Remember to take it sleazy and stay epic!

So I noticed today that some users (like lee4) like to add codes in an unencrypted format for PS2. The system as it stands assumes the codes are encrypted.

I temporarily added a "standard" device for PS2 to add codes in this way. I'm not sure I like it this way, as it might be better to specify at the time of adding just whether they are encrypted or not. But then I have to store the encryption bit in the database for later reference. The good thing is that unencrypted codes for particular devices could be added this way.

Honestly, since the site encrypts and unencrypts everything, maybe we could just tell everyone to add encrypted codes and let that be the end of it or something.

        Not sure yet. Feedback welcome.

I think all AR codes for all system from PS2 and beyond should be encrypted by default as well as GG codes and everything else should be decrypted raw codes.

I noticed the "Encrypted?" checkbox in the PS1 section. It could be removed for that section, as I don't see anyone submitting them encrypted for the system. As for the PS2 (GCN too?), the current device listing is fine. It's easier to spot an error in your code, when it's not encrypted. This is a common issue for hackers that make a lot of modifier codes.

Some of us have also stopped encrypting our codes (I only do this for public use in a certain game series).

              Cool.

First of all, The "Encrypted?" button is there for all systems because it's a universal form. I don't want to add extraneous code just to hide it for specific systems when the Chroniclers just know better anyway. If it were a public form, I may reconsider.

The encrypted bit stores and is now used so codes can be posted in an unencrypted format, and still be recognized by the system. Just a small oversight on my part, but an easy fix. Unfortunately, unencrypted codes will show encrypted until fixed, but that won't have any effect on how they are displayed initially, just how the system sees them when it tries to convert them. So really, it's not a big deal until somebody wants them in a different format or I start writing export scripts for those systems.

Ah, OK. That makes perfect sense. I didn't think about it being used by the public (spammers come to mind).

Hi, you can fix the main toolbar for smartphones with small screens? Something in the css because i can not see all the toolbar when i zoom. Maybe you can add a special css media import for mobiles, like mobile sites menu button, like google mobile or something. Also when i zoom the menu takes more space in the screen. The rest of the forum is also not optimized for mobiles but still works. Nice site.

Pd: if this not goes here please move it.
