This has been happening for a while now, but I couldn't quite figure out why did the search feature was giving me so many results and today I finally figured it out.
When you search for something using the top search bar, whatever you typed gets saved for the next time. If you use the mouse to select what you already typed, the search will be performed as usual. But if you use the keyboard arrow keys to select your previously typed query, the search will be partial and you'll end up with dozens of results.
Example: I previously searched for Tecmo Super Bowl. The second time, instead of typing the whole name, I just typed "tec" and the menu appeared showing the game that I searched before. If you click it with the mouse and hit enter, the search will be successful. But if you use the arrow keys and then hit enter, instead for searching for the whole name you selected, it instead searches for what you typed, which is "tec" and thus, giving you dozens to hundreds of results.
You can confirm that is the issue because after you do a search, there's another search bar with filters and in it you'll see that it doesn't show what you selected (the full name), but it does show you what you typed ("tec").
