  • New Search Engine

I mean common developers the searching engine for the codes is crap could you make something like 4 better search engines?
1.A systems list click on the system you want so you can search the codes for that type of system.
2.A search for the name of the hackers like for example type the name of a hacker so you can find all of his cheats and hacks for that type of system.
3.A Search Engine for the name of the cheats so you can find that type of cheat for all the games of that system.
4.A search engine for the games of that type of system type the name of a game so you can find all of the cheats for that game on the respective system.
    Thank You.

Look Here (Found by clicking on "Codes" on the main site)

Searched for "abystus" on the main site.

This site currently does not support this, but my implementation does at GSC here by filtering with the "Code Title" and "Author" fields. It really isn't an important feature, but it's nice to have if your after finding a specific hacker's codes, or a specific hack all together.

This is pretty much handled by typing the name of the game in on the main site. The search returns all systems that the game name matches, thus allowing you to choose the game for your system of choice. Example: Mortal Kombat

I don't use the search engine. So I personally think GameHacking.org database layout is much quicker and easier to navigate. At GSCentral, when you click on an updated game that recently got codes added to it, it doesn't bring you to the game's codes. See what I mean: http://gscentral.org/updates.html .

But in the Gamehacking.org database, when you click on an updated game, it does what it's supposed to do and brings you to the game's codes. Example: click on a recent additions on the left side of the page: http://gamehacking.org/ . Another example: or you can click the recent additions for a particular game system, like the NES: http://gamehacking.org/?s=v2&sys=5 . When you click on the updated game, it brings you to the game's cheat codes. This unfortunately does not happen at GSCentral.

The only GSCentral database feature that I like that GameHacking.org doesn't have is the feature that Abystus implemented that he already explained.

Of course this is all my preference and opinion. Other people might think differently.

Anyways, Rimsky is working on GameHacking's new database which is going to be even better.

So why then is a search engine on this site if the layout database on this site is so simple I mean serious the search engine is pretty much with no use at all.Somebody then should need to erase that search engine then.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Yes GameHacking.org's database layout is simple, quick, and easy to use. But it's also nice to have another option, such as the search engine, to navigate to a game's codes. Everyone has their own preference of how they navigate a database. Some prefer using a search engine, and others prefer just to point and click to navigate to a game's codes.

Be sure to use the database search engine and not the forum search engine. The search results will show the game's codes from multiple databases (GSHI, BSFree, Official Game Genie) along with multiple code formats (Game Genie, PAR, Hex). It works like a charm. So how is the search engine useless? And why would we delete the search engine feature?

I personally like GameHacking's search engine better than GSCentral's because it's a pain in the butt to have to click the "console/device" drop down list, scroll down, find the console/device, and select the console/device of the particular game that I am searching for in GSCentral. But in GameHacking's search engine, you don't have to select the console/device of the game you're looking for. You just type the game's name in the search bar and wala!... all the game's codes and formats are displayed from whatever console/s the game is available.

This statement is extremely vague...would you mind crystallizing it? Using words like the "Forum's Search Engine" and the "Database Search Engine" would be appreciated at a time like this.
I only bother with things that interest me.

We're hoping to launch the beta of the new site soon, which will have a better search engine. We're not going to work on improving the old one when it's just getting thrown out soon.
