One for Ios & one for Android would be great to implement.

What would these things do that a mobile version of the site + Chrome/Firefox/Safari wouldn't?

It would bring a bigger audience & presence to the site & community.

Having a mobile version of the site only pretty much optimizes the site for smartphones, having an app would help mobile users who may not google search but instead use the playstore know about the site, plus that makes it a click away.

Also a bit more on your inquiry about mobile from a previous post of mine @ vb.org

You can test if your page is mobile friendly or not here and it will give you a report.

I'm already working on a responsive version of the site, that should be sufficient for mobile use. I really don't see a point in having an app. And that's important, since I'd probably be the one developing it.

Unless it would enable features not available on a mobile browser, it would be a waste of time. Unless it was a simple container for the mobile site, which may not have a point either besides an icon on your phone with a GH on it.

If the reason for the app is to have "a bigger audience & presence", then I would rather not. This site doesn't need more users, it needs more hackers. Specially modern hackers that don't focus on what everybody else already focuses on: Nes/SNES/Genesis.

From what I've gathered, hackers already know about this place. It's just that a lot of the hackers' enthusiasm died when their respective sites also died (gscentral, geckocodes, koderwex, etc.). While some hackers have migrated from those sites to here (such as Lee, CosmoCourtney, Skiller, etc), a lot others did not.

I deployed the responsive version a long time ago.
