  • Server problem 2 days in a row

This has happened to me for the last 2 days in a row, for several hours at a time:

    The connection has timed out

The server at gamehacking.org is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Every other site that I go to is fine, I get this with this site only.

Yeah, apparently someone or some group decided to DDoS one of the sites we host (or GameHacking.org itself). The target was our shared IP, so there's no telling at the moment.

We're implementing an anti-DDoS solution and working to improve our security posture a bit before we stand the sites back up (so, you probably won't see this post for a day or two, as I'm currently the only one with access to the site, heh).
      I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

If you recall, Rune told us that he befriended the hacker that attacked his website. So I wouldn't be surprised if he convinced that hacker to attack us.

Anyway, I'm glad everything is fine now. I was starting to get worried.

Nah, I know the hacker in question (the one your referring to). Wasn't him that I'm aware of.
Not taking any requests at this time.

                      I third it.

When I saw the site was off, my Rice Krispies went

                      Snap
                      Crackle
                      Fuck You

I guessed some assbag had attacked the site.

As I remember, such attacks come under FCC regs about interfering with interstate and international communications, same as screwing with phone or radio traffic. (if the hemorrhoid-eater is in the USA)

I was wondering wtf was going on too. I even thought of it being down because server issues or someone banned my ip accidently but just some dicks messing with a good gaming community. On that note I think we Staffers or atleast Admins should be able to get a complete backup of the entire DB just in case.

I don't think it's necessary for all of the staff and admins to have database backups. Firstly, accessibility should only be possible by an Admin. Trying to safeguard and preserve it while having the amount of individuals that have access to it at a minimum for security reasons. I'd suggest three active Admins to have a backup. Lazy Bastard = Obvious reasons, he's owner of the website. Rimsky = He's the tech and creator of new website. And the third and last emergency contact person should be the senior most active admin, which is Helder, IRRC. Just my opinion on the matter.

If LB were to misplace his copy, then Rimsky would at least have a back up. In case lightening strikes twice and a tornado swoops away Rimsky's possessions, then Helder would at least have an emergency copy. And if something were to happen that all three, at the same time, would somehow lose their copies , then I say F**k it, the site was meant to be caput... cuz there's a better chance of hitting the lotto than that happening.
