whats actualy mess can offerin?

Wey evreydood, ive just one question. Whats tha defirence betwen mame and mess? I knew mess actualy writed based on mame. Just curious, do i can found better result when i play tha game throug mess? Becouse ive bity problem with mame, somehow any kind of adress that i desire dunt allowed me to changin tha value which is dynamicaly i presume, i cant found any static one, i hope mess will give me better luck tough.ThanksDood

MAME emulates arcade games. MESS emulates consoles and some other video game systems. They may officially merge one day, but have not done so yet. An unofficial derivative called UME has merged both emulators: http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/

MAME is great. As for MESS, I do not recommend it for the video game systems that I play. There are better individual emulators available than MESS. Examples of some video game systems that have better emulators than MESS are:

NES = Nestopia, FCEUX

SNES = Bsnes

Genesis = Kega Fusion, Exodus

Atari 2600 = Stella

Game Boy / Game Boy Color = Gambatte

Game Boy Advance = Visual Boy Advance-M

TurboGrafx-16 = Ootake

But MESS is fine to use for some other systems or to make cheat codes for some systems.
