  • Blocking Field Goals...

Matt Prater's 64-yd. FG yesterday, and Auburn's Chris Davis' return for a TD of Alabama's short FG attempt brought something to mind...in 1962, I saw R. C. Owens of the 49ers block a FG by leaping in fronta the crossbar & rejecting it. It appears someone coulda blocked Prater's FG in similar fashion, as it barely cleared the crossbar. I'm wondering if that's still within the rules or not?
I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.

It used to be considered illegal batting unless you managed to catch the ball, but the rules change so much these days that I have no idea.
