  • Ashes Cricket 2013 Hammered by Players, Pulled from Steam

    By Luke Reilly

After quietly sneaking onto Steam late last week, Ashes Cricket 2013 has been yanked from the service and is no longer available for purchase.

Customer reaction has been overwhelmingly bad, with an avalanche of negative reviews on Steam and a Metacritic user score currently sitting at 0.2.

The Ashes Cricket 2013 Facebook page, which had over 42,000 likes, has also vanished. The game’s Twitter account still exists but hasn’t published a post since September 21.

There’s no word on the console versions of Ashes Cricket 2013; the game is still available to pre-order at several retailers on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U but you may reconsider after watching some of the videos recently published by disappointed punters.

Ashes Cricket 2013 was originally due to release on June 21 in time for the English leg of this year’s back-to-back Ashes series but was delayed until November because it “simply wasn’t good enough in its current state.”

IGN has contacted 505’s representation for comment.

I almost died laughing when I saw the way they animated players running up and down the pitch. "Rickets Cricket".

Ashes Cricket 2013 cancelled following poor user reviews

Publisher 505 Games has been forced to cancel any further development of the official Ashes Cricket game after its release, in a bid to protect the licensor from the awful quality of the title.
