1. You just got really far into a good game, and are just about to save the game...when your PSP crashes, effectively undoing about two hours or so of gameplay.
2. You just got really far into a good game, but you forgot to plug your PSP in, and the battery dies just before you were going to save the game, effectively undoing about two hours or so of gameplay.
3. You just got really far into a good game, but...you accidentally spill a glass of water on your PSP, effectively frying it, undoing--until you get another PSP--about two hours or so of gameplay.
4. The only way to play your PSP (because the battery is dead) is via USB, but the power goes out, turning off your computer, and removing the PSP's only power source, just before you were going to save the game, effectively undoing about two hours or so of gameplay.
5. You just got off work, and now have to ride your bicycle in the rain all the way home (late at night, no possible rides available), and you stick your PSP in your backpack. When you get home, you find out that your PSP is fried due to getting wet (turns out your backpack wasn't as "waterproof" as you thought), thus preventing you from playing PSP...until you get a new (or used) one.
At least three of these have happened to me (ride bicycle in the rain, spilled water, psp game freeze).
I don't know--the PSP is a very powerful machine, but it has its, ahem, "moments", where it stops working the way it's supposed to, and crashes, or even worse, after one too many game freezes, and resulting forced shutdowns, the fuse gives out, rendering the PSP completely unplayable.
As far as I know, the PS Vita is a far more powerful machine, but it doesn't have nearly as frequent of game-freeze issues as the PSP. Seems the more advanced a console gets, the less frequently game-freeze issues happen, but don't go away altogether (instead finding more insidious ways to destroy your gameplay experience).
