Nintendo will support the cross-play with other platforms

3DS and Wii U can be connected with any console

          By Jose Altozano 22.10.2013

Nintendo has taken a new step in the cross-play. Although 3DS and Wii U have such functionality in games like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, now the company wants to take this to the next level. As you said a representative from Nintendo to VG247: "We can confirm that the functionality between platforms is possible in certain titles playable on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, in addition to other systems of video games not made by Nintendo".

Indeed, 3DS and Wii U could have cross-play with PS3, Xbox 360, PC or any other platform companies thus permitting. The big N has declared this decision to "help developers achieve the potential of their software in Nintendo systems". Evidence of this had been in recent months. Cubemen 2 has game crossed between iOS, Android, PC, 3DS and Wii U, but it was Pure Chess when Nintendo allowed the Ripstone, his Studio Creator, connect with any console game. However, neither Microsoft nor Sony have said nothing on the subject of this new type of connection.

Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, cross game is becoming more and more popular. One of the main features of PS4 is its connection with PS Vita, which currently can connect to PS3 on games such as PlayStation all-stars Battle Royale. In addition, certain new generation like Battlefield 4 or The Division games allow smartphones or tablets to have cross-play with consoles to provide new gaming systems. However, there is still that Sony and Microsoft enable connection between their consoles, although if we take into account the PS4 and Xbox Onesimilar architectures, this project could become a reality.

Never thought Nintendo would do something like this, as long as Nintendo doesn't let any of their exclusive games/characters be played on non-Nintendo consoles I guess it's all good.
