First Game system ever played
The first one I played was an Other type... For some odd reason it was a Commodore 128 with a bunch of pirated games. And even though this isn't a poll for the second system you played, I'll mention that one too... It was a friend's brand new SNES. Which is probably where I first ran into a cheat device, as he'd gotten a Game Genie as well. I somehow noticed that there were codes for Super Mario World in the manual. Of course, these days I totally suck at that game, even though back then even without codes I used to be pretty good at it...

First Game system ever played
I like this topic, and yes I know Phil will blow us all away, heh (No not talking about how old we are, age is nothing to be ashamed of now, but I am one up there, myself. Not as up there as Phil (again not poking fun, just being true now, so when he gets here, I know he will tell us all of systems we never even saw or knew)
Anyway, I choose 'other' also, mostly because well, it is not listed, and otherwise, heck I cannot even recall the name of it.
It was a system that had no exchangible 'carts' or anything, you just 'switched' to what 'game' you wanted...and it only had 3 or 4. One was Pong (ofcorse) the other was a racing game and the other was shooting clay bits, with a light gun, cannot rememebr the 'other' game, but it was along those 'primative' lines you know heh.
Now again not sure what this 'system' was called, but is was before the Commodore and Atari. It's 'pads' were nothing but roll pads, one fire button and no 'joy stick' just a roller thing, the gun was pretty darn 'real' looking, well yes plastic, but still real looking, soemthing you could hold up a store with in fact, it looked like a six shooter revolver, and was a light gun plastic, but again was kind of 'messed' up as again it was not all the furture Star Trek like the NES light gun. (Years later, we 'kids' torn the system up and ripped the gun out, cut it's wire so we could play outside shooting each other hehe evil kids we were, yes. To tear apart a machine that was some $200.00 back then in the 70's which was then no drop in a bucket, just to get the gun well we were kids and evil hehe) And again well the controlers nor gun would 'come off the machine' they were all bolted or fastened into the machine, and the games again you just had a switch to choose your 'joy'. heh the mess was boring as hell hehe...anyway if anyone rememebrs what that was called, please do say, but that 'no name' was the first game system I really ever knew.
Next was that Commodore thingy, I was not much into it really...as that last thing bored me yes a little girl kid almost til death, besides I was more getting into dolls and such then, baby days were over, ti was time for Barbie (She-ra not out yet but soon enough)
Next game the Atari 2600 and the knock off Sear Until that said 'sears' but was exact same thing on the inside, played all the same games and all, just was a knock off for Sears wanting into the game biz.
The Atari 2600 and Sears Unit 'lasted' awhile, we did not upgrade to those new Atari systems, my sisters, brothers and I as kids and wanting all new types of toys, kinda ate that upgrade away, we were more into He-Man and She-Ra comming out then anyway....
Then as Hiro said 'most' would choose, the (or did you say the SNES now????) NES came along and back then in 1987 goodness, that was pure joy like having a freaking arcade system in your home.
And those days were classic....the days of the NES is when all this stuff started about 'the whole school' comming over to your home after school let out. Classic suburban curture these days, but seriously indeed here anyway and everywhere it does seem the NES caused that indeed.
I say that because if you all were into games then, and if you recall, the NES was great but at start not something 'everyone' had, so those who had the system and a few games, that house was always the 'hang out' after school. After the NES is which what 'really' got me into video games, that vist my house was sort of the thing for a while to come, when new system came out, if I wanted them, I'd ask for them on Christmas and birthday ofcorse, the SNES in 1991, Genesis in 1989, TG16 in 1990 for one year there started the 'classic' go over to Amy's house after school all over again....ahh the good old days.

First Game system ever played
Well, I went and scrwed up my 'years'...blahhh us 'old' people we can remember good, but as far as numbers I do forget those ALOT---remember I HATE math blahhhh
I would say a 'classic' Beavis and ButtHead 'quote' but ehhh I am not 'stupid' with a high ass I.Q. not stupid by far, but still numbers do get on my nerves, give me 'words' and english anytime---anyway that Beavis and Butthead thing where they once said they hated numbers because there are like too damn many of them, well, other then when in the case of money, hell that is true.
Anyway, just saying I went and screwed over my years abit there, NES is NOT 1987 but 1985.
Hell just 'years' back then seemed alot longer then they do 'now'...now a year goes by in what seems two weeks pretyt much, back then, years went by good and slow, 1985 after all the YEAR of She-Ra and the NES....be it the NES came in the fall, for me Christmas, but still She-Ra was there to fill that void and school playing til then...still the great days even if I get the 'true' years mixxed up.

Re: First Game system ever played
It was probably a Commodore 64 although I think we may have had a Commodore VIC 20 before that. Also I recall my brother mentioning he had a Timex Sinclair but I don't know if I ever had access to it. The Commodore monitors seem to be quite durable - we now have it hooked up to a VCR and continue to use it as a TV.

Re: First Game system ever played
You're right, Hiro! I still have an original PONG system, in perfect wkg. order, box-n-all. Not counting making krazy sine waves on an oscilloscope in the 60s, Pong was the first for my wife and I. At the time, it seemed almost miraculous to be able to "play" a TV.Originally posted by iamstillhiro1112I'm betting most the staff will choose NES. Phil the hammer might choose something different tho.
Oh, and Amy, thanx for defending the aging process, at which I'm more experienced than mosta the other members here. remember the alternative...we're all gonna age or DIE. And eventually, we WILL all die.I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.

I'm one of the very old school, when I was little my father bought an Atari 800XL system it was the one that was a computer keyboard with a slot to insert cartdriges. Ah.... the lot of hours of fun I passed playing with it, my father even added a disk drive for it adding a lot of more games a friend of his passed to him on 5 1/4 disks.
It sure were good times
