Romancing Saga is so good and so bad!(long but fun?)

All I want here is to tell you about my predicament, and then you tell me there is probably a small ray of hope somewhere in the goddamned game for my current story line...nice and simple:

I am playing as Gray, I allready searched faqs, and bought the walkthrough before posting this, so lay off it...

i am on the quest 'ailing emporer' which is a long one...which involves doing other semi long quests to unlock quests to unlock quests to....

i just want to buy spells in melvire, but ive triggered this damned quest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!11

so ive completed a couple of the prequests on the way, and i found some stupid lizard man named Guella Ha (GH), who i had no use for on the last pre quest...

so i released him from my party after taking his armor and weapons to sell.....yeah, im that kind of bastard.

so i looked in the 2 pubs on his home island, which is where i recruited him from last time...he is not there! i hate it!

i am frustrated, but still have hope to find him somewhere else, in another pub or town in a city near his home island. or where i found Hawk the pirate (GH is on his team if you play as hawk from beginning...remember, im gray!) maybe...

i know that you can release characters then get them back, because some stupid woman who started on my team was released, then i found her in a pub again a few hours later....

i hope it works like this:

if
side character has a name instead of class
and
you release then from your party like a fool
then
you can get them back later if you find them
else
you are screwed so hard!

so because hs has a name (GH) i should be able to get him again somewhere....

so my question, or hope rather, is that someone has experienced this and or knows something about how i should go about finding GH if he is not in one of the towns near me...as i have not even unlocked the entire world map yet, i cant go too awful far in search of him.

i only need GH so his lizardface friend in his lizardtown will sell me a scroll so i can take the scroll to the imperial library to decode it so i can find the resting place of the moonstone so i can fight some badass to get the moonstone so i can heal the emporer and get so much XP + CASH + LEETITEM + GEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

When I played through as Gray, I had the same problem. I found Guella Ha in a pub in ... eh I forget the town. It's very close to Walon Isle, though.

But yeah - you can certainly get GH again. Same with most of the characters; there are only a couple that I know of that are gone for good if you dismiss them.
