Although Myst isn't everyone's cup of tea, it's hard to deny the fact that the 1993 adventure was ahead of its time, if only for a brief moment. Needless to say there were countless titles inspired by Cyan's efforts, even ones arriving today. Elansar is one of these which has just been released on the Atari Jaguar in cartridge form.
After two whole years in development, this recent offering from Orion has not only been released on Atari's 64-bit console, but also PC, Linux, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, Atari Falcon & the Firebee. This vast adventure features a pre-rendered tropical island packed to the brim with Myst-style logic puzzles, all presented in a classic first-person perspective point-and-click viewpoint.
Those hoping to enjoy this quest on the Atari Jaguar, however, may need to look at the alternative versions available. Just days after the retro gaming manufacturers RGCD made available the first 75 copies of Elansar, all have since been snapped up by the Atari hardcore collective. Whether or not more copies are due to be made available is yet to be known.
