    Without charging kit

    By Casey Johnston - July 29 2013, 1:15 P.M. EDT

Charging kits, headsets, and controllers appear in the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has announced extra controllers for the Xbox One will come at $59.99 each, according to new listings on the Microsoft Store website. A controller that comes with a play-and-charge kit will cost $15 more.

Microsoft has slowly rolled out information about the new controller and its rumbling impulse triggers, new d-pad, and redesigned analog sticks. As is the custom for most gaming consoles, only one controller will be included in the box with the $499 Xbox One (along with two AA batteries and a USB port for external power).

For comparison, the Xbox 360 wireless controllers were priced at $49.99 back in 2005, while the wired controllers cost $39.99. The 360 play-and-charge kits were $20 standalone packages, while a standalone Xbox One play-and-charge kit will cost $24.99.

Microsoft also announced the pricing of Xbox One headsets, which will not be included in the box. They will debut at $24.99 (some models of the Xbox 360 are packaged with a headset).

    That's ridiculous!

Especially considering the price of new games these days. If anything, they should cost half of that and if we're being honest- I would not pay more than $20 for a controller.

This is why I'm glad that I'm retiring from gaming after the current generation is over. I will not be participating in next generation and onwards.

I'll be perfectly fine with my older consoles and of course my beloved Super Nintendo. Retro gaming for life!

Right now PS3 controllers are $50 new, just like they've been almost from the start after they got dualshock 3 back in them and fixed a bug. I guess $60 isn't too far off, even though I hate that price. Doesn't matter really, there's no way on Earth I'm ever grabbing Xbox "One".

I won't even consider buying an XBox One for at least 2 years, until all the bugs are worked out. I FINALLY have an XBox 360 that worx perfectly all the time, doesn't scratch up game disks, overheat, etc. etc.

I still can't get over how terrible the Xbone/Xbox 180 is, even after they did the '180' turn on it, considering that I love the Xbox 360 and most of the games for it. I had a blast hex editing gamesaves on it.

I was with Sony for Playstation 1 and 2, they lost me with 3- But if I were getting a next generation console, I would definitely go with the Playstation 4 over the Xbone/Xbox 180 any day. (After all, Sony seems to have learned their lesson with the Playstation 3 and looks to be earnestly trying to make amends. Even if they aren't, it's still the more attractive console over the piece of *bleep* Xbone/Xbox 180.)

          What a shame...

I dunno how much 360 controllers are now, but if the Xbox One controllers become the new standard then that might be the controller to get. Didnt like the dpad on the 360 controllers so it's good that they may have fixed that now.

A wired 360 controller (OEM) is $30 now, making XBOne controllers effectively double the price, since there's apparently no cheaper wired option. They've said they plan to sell 360 consoles for at least another 5 years, so they better end up offering a new 360 controller with all the XBOne fixes. I can't believe not one 3rd party controller ever got it right either. It's nuts they want so much for controllers now though.

The PS3 controller is horrible and it's still $50? Fuck that. I got a PS2-USB adapter to use my PS2 controller on PS3 since I couldn't stand the PS3 one. Apparently, there was an adapter of some kind to use 360 controllers on PS3. Bitch to find now though. I only buy exclusives on PS3. I get everything else on 360...and I do mean everything. ~385 Xbox360 games to 20ish PS3 games.

I can definitely see this being the last gen I support though. If they keep with this mandatory Kinect bullshit, I'll pirate the XB1 exclusives when the time comes.

Yeah, controller prices are still ridiculous these days. However, you can get brand new ones (no clones) for cheaper prices, if you search hard enough, or buy it from someone new (some can be haggled for $15 to $20 less). The X360 and PS3 controllers I have now, were giving to me for free. In times of need, I end up running into the right people, at the right time (those getting newer systems, or retiring their old ones).

As for the adapter, you're probably referring to that XCM adapter. The company has a bunch of new stuff: http://www.xcmlive.com/cgi-bin/xcmli...LAYSTATION%203
