  • Don't make this dumb-ass mistake!

Recently, I tried to register in this forum under the same user name & password I use for the main board. In my infinite wisdom. I failed to turn off the Yahoo spam-blocker, and it not only blocked the activation post; it blocked the addy for this forum...When I made a new Yahoo account, this forum wouldn't allow me to register / my old user name and password, so I had to make new ones.

Firewalls and other such shit are great, but don't do what I did & leave it on when ya shouldn't!

I must admit, I was extremly 'curious' as to your name again Phil, I mean, wondering if it was indeed you or a bot now stealing names (ehh heck, it happened on Yahoo alot using the cap i as a small L so something bots seemed to do alot which we have had a run of recently here, and though your name is not all that different, just under dashes other then spaces, but in anycase, maybe LMZ or Ugetab or someoen could and would help you get your original name and account back and such.

All up to you, ofcorse, but maybe, and I believe we can and could get you back to yourself, again if you wish and want that.

It'd be pretty simple to fix. Either I can change the password for that account to the one your new account has, or if you send me a message I can change it to whatever you want. For that matter, anybody who has access can do it if they follow the instructions.

Although you're using the normal IP address for Phil The Hammer, you're not using the same password(I can tell that, thanks to the hash of both passwords).

I also noticed a few other discrepancies, such as that the Phil The Hammer account doesn't have an Activation Key set, and so you could probably just login and change the e-mail address manually if you have the right password. As an admin, one needs to be careful to get an explaination for discrepencies, so someone doesn't steal anyone elses account, especially a code-contributing member's, because such people just aren't common enough to treat like they're a dime a dozen.
This reality is mine. Go hallucinate your own.

That's much better than I probably would've put it. Which is part of why I didn't say anything about the irregularities. I'm not 100% certain, but doesn't yahoo just dump "spam" into the bulk mail folder? It's quite possible that the board is having problems sending email, as there's something odd involving email and this site...

Well, qhwn I Wwas getting e=mail notificiations they were being sent to the bulk mail thing, so I guess activation mails were being sent there too. This started when we switched e-mails. But I added gshi to my address book to make sure its sent to the right place.

Okay, all emails from the phpbb should be coming from "[email protected]". I should've probably mentioned that earlier...

                Don't make this dumb-ass mistake!

Yahoo Mail and all else for that matter is 'weird'.... I use the e-mail account 'all the time' and any and all mail from GSHI comes into my inbox, never to the bulk mail mess.

Recently seen that a few weeks back when I was having trouble myself getting logged in, you all remember...and all those password changes did come to my in box, also all other messages, like well has been awhile but, Lazy's 'update' e-mail also came to inbox. Not sure if I have anything set up special, I do not ehh my bulk mail folder is 'default' and has been ever sense that folder mess started...but still Yahoo is indeed just strange at what and who it throws into that bulk folder and what it does not.

I mean well being on the net these days, we all do get ALOT of spam.... I get about 200 spam bulk e-mails in 12 hours these days, plus all those others I 'tell Yahoo' is spam, and then they seem never to add them no more. blahhh you know those e-mails telling me how BIG my breasts could be, how to get free make up, how to make my 'penis' larger and mess.... wonderful, me a woman with no penis, and they want me to have something I do not even have ALOT bigger...some spam never goes to the bulk on mine.... but ehhh that is a whole other yahoo fuck up, I guess, the otherwise strange thing is, GSHI e-mail never goes to bulk mail in my case and my stuff is default pretty much, I think. E-Mail crap is just strange these days....

Yahoo has the problem that they send spam that's "official" so you can't get rid of it easily... That, and their spam filter sucks.

heh yes that is right also, I guess after awhile I just got 'used' to Yahoo...using it for so long as my own official e-mail.... would sue home IP addy, but blahhhh I will and must admit (will admit because heck, what can be done about it anyway? I mena not like I am killing children or anything here) But my 'home' IP addy goes to 4 different home/houese, mine, my father's, my sisters, and my brothers, we all 'share' the exact same IP service and 'number' all for one low monthly cost we all four are signed up. Not as 'great' as you'd think now, I will say, only one can be 'online' at a time...so when something by anyone of us must be 'done' and worked on contact must be made and asked to hey do not dail up til I tell you it is okay, I need to pay bills, or order soemthing or other mess on the net you know. 4 homes, and goodness and 20 PCs all hooked up to same IP internet number. 20 PCs seem like alot, yeah I know, but not bragging now, soem are not that great and some have more then a few years on them, they work, but well that is life for me, Amy here.

We also share the 'same' DirecTV satilite mess one satilite for also 4 differenhomes and 4 DTV boxes in each home, again hey yeah I know that may sound cheap and such, but even with me, if I can see a way of getting something for free, well heck you bet I will, again we are all ammong us here people who emulate and all else, so heck it is not crooked I think in anyway at all. The only thing crooked I do is 'fixx' the DTV cards so can get all those blacked out 'porn' channels that are not even 'allowed' by law in N.C. some great channels, cannot say 'how' to swipe those cards, sorry something that hell they look for any said to be ways and go afetr you but well, that is okay maybe a little crooked I do...ehh well not really, again if you can get it for free and are not hurting anyone, hey I say all is well. :P

But anyway off topic there, but that is why I use Yahoo so much, and why it has grown on me used it ever sense 1995 and each little bug and change juyst seems not to bother me much anymore...ehh as they say that is 'life'.

                      My ID

I'm in the process of setting up a new email account through my ISP, & soon as I get it ironed out, I'll get back with ya about restoring mu old account, including sending you my password for it. It's gonna take me a few days, as I have a son heading to Texas to work.
I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.
