With the release of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780, there’s a flurry of features to discuss (which we’ve done), but one intriguing new addition worth mentioning is NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience software, including ShadowPlay.
Simply put, ShadowPlay lets users easily record and save game footage, which you can then share on YouTube or other video sharing channels. The technology relies on Kepler’s built-in H.264 encoder, and allows 20 minutes of game recording at 30 FPS with 1080p, which you can easily save to a file. It’s designed to run in the background, and uses RAM for storage.
GeForce Experience, which has been in closed beta for months and is now available to the masses, is designed to help optimize game performance depending on a specific system’s configuration. The database of data is comprehensive and actually relies quite a bit on human testing to figure out which settings for a given title work best on a given system. It currently supports almost three dozen games.
