well this is a straight sequel being the third or fourth game set on ALTTP hyrule, the others were for the satellaview iirc, but this feels a bit of a blend of paper mario and zelda, not very comfortable where this is going but i'll give it a chance.

I wasn't very thrilled to see the paper zelda part of the game. It seems unnecessary and a just-to-be-different feel to it so people wouldn't think it's just the same game with better graphics. But regardless, if I played newer generation systems, I'd definitely buy this game.

Nobody said it was a sequel to ALTTP. Reggie said it was a new game, in the ALTTP world, which I took to mean it has a very similar art style. It basically resembles the SNES's Zelda game's graphics and viewpoint.

For the part of Link becoming part of the wall, it's to add a new element utilizing the 3D effects. I think it brings some freshness to the series, and it will be fun figuring out the new 3D-inspired puzzles.

When they announced Twilight Princess, and I heard Link would be turning into a wolf, I had the same reaction; like it was too different from the series and I wouldn't like it. Same with the cell shading of Wind Waker. And what about the tiny Picori of The Minish Cap, and Link's ability to shrink? Every Zelda game has brought something new, and they end up being great games, and still feel like Zelda.

What makes me more upset is when they have a new system, and the first Zelda game they release is a remake of an old game. So playing on the opposite reaction, I'm glad they add something fresh and new to each game in the series.

I like all zelda games because of their uniqueness and this will be no different. But now for something off topic: I hope they remake or release a new Metroid as long as its not the NDS kind, I love the 2d versions and the first person on the NGC/Wii but I couldn't stand it on the handheld.

I'm all for introducing new elements freshness into the new games, but the whole paper zelda just rubbed me the wrong way... I don't know. I just hope that the paper zelda isn't a huge aspect of the game, it seems too drastic of a change. But who knows, I may wound up liking it.

Completely agree. I loved Metroid Other M, as it had a 2D feel in a 3D environment. I'd love if they went that route.

There are a lot of games I don't like on the DS, because it's awkward to hold when trying to hold the unit with one hand and using the stylus with the other, especially for a long period of time.

Well for TP, you had to use the wolf a good bit until you got the Master Sword(unless you cheated with Gecko/Ocarina), from then on out you could change back & forth freely.
I really didn't like the wolf at first, but he's faster than human Link. The paper element though, I agree with you OSG, hopefully it won't be used too much.

Old thread, I know, but this game is awesome. I've had it for awhile now and I enjoy playing it. The parts of the game where Link has to become a drawing on the wall isn't bad at all; it actually adds a great experience to the game. The game also allows you to equip two items instead of one (unlike the previous ALTTP game) and they can be used with the X and Y buttons, respectively, on the 3DS. However, one tiny flaw in this game would be the bosses simply because they are a little too easy to defeat. Other than that, great game.

I bought this for christmas along with a 3DS that was on sale too and I played it to shit, great game and I love the fact it's a sequel to the LTTP. Also the new Castlevania is pretty good too if anyone is looking to get another good game.
