  • The Oscars are bullshit

The Oscars are bullshit. They are a sham. They are middlebrow. They are self-congratulatory. They are onanistic. They are considerably less watched than the Super Bowl because Hollywood hates America. They are a glorified fashion show. They crowned Forrest Gump.

There are a plethora of reasons to hate on the Oscars, some of them even legitimate.

And yet here’s one reason to care: 2012 was a great year for movies.

    ARGO wins the Oscars

    Allison Worldland says:

ARGO wins the Oscars. Now that the shameless Hollywood’s patting itself on the back is over, can we get back to the important business of appreciating some real, truthful and relevant films? Those that can make us think, feel and educate, all at the same time?

How about if we started with “99%”, Celik Kayalar’s extraordinary short-film which is a cinematic and cultural phenomenon/masterpiece in every sense of the word?

Maybe the WEBBY AWARDS will lead the way in showing their appreciation for it, come May. My respect for their jury would sky-rocket if they did.

I didn't even bother to watch it.
I only bother with things that interest me.

Never watched it my entire life, and never cared. Anything that is famous that can reach crowds can be bought, so it is never trustworthy nor worth my time. I'm fine watching my things that never end up on the fake "kickassmegaawesomeverymuchdeservingmasterpieceawa rd" list. I haven't watched TV in over 2 years, and aside from not seeing the 8th season of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, I don't think I'll be missing anything for years to come.
