If that is what they actually do, I may steer away from buying a PS3. I have had one PS2 break down on me. My brother had 2. If they go thru with this that means when it happens again (If sony makes it, then it WILL break down again) that my games will be no good.

If they're stupid enough to do that, which they might be... That'd just be pushing people towards their competition. Despite the dumb things microsoft has been doing with the new xbox, it's nothing compared to that.

Making stuff that self-destructs is a good way of making sure people find out how to pirate it sooner...

It does seem unlikely that such a thing would be built into ps3. For one thing, it'd require more complicated hardware than they've probably got already, which would just drive the price of the damn thing up.

Yeah, I doubt that'll be implemented...Sony would almost definitely lose the VG market, and I can't remember the last time Sony lost at anything, heh.

Yeah 'if' they do that, it would not be good, and I am with Hiro, not buy one at all, because as he said also, doing that and then the PS3 you have 'breaking' would make all your games worthless.

Plus all that mess, would also indeed put a hamper on PS3 hacking as we are looking into 'starting' when things get rolling (well things are rolling, but I mean well you know. :P )

So if they do that, they would lose the video game market, so I would bet and 'HOPE' they would not do that at all ever.

Otherwise, yeah the world is all a 'money game' sad? not really, just the way of the world we all live in now, as is heck and hell even at that, I have heard 'talks' of musci companies NOW (well okay in the future) wanting to make 'CDs where you play them and listen ONCE and that is it....more in talks I have 'heard tell of' something like 'singles' sold for $0.39 but still... also with that they wanna talk about one time play DVDs sold for (movie ticket price) as well.... I mean so far all talks, and then again 'talk' you never really know if is true or not, but mess like that gahhhh

I think its all about competition really, yeah even the games dont last long. They get scratch or cracked,I dont know how many games got ruined. But then again nothing lasts long, No wait maybe except the Energizer Rabbit that keeps going..going..going.going.........lol :lol:

I doubt this goes through really, otherwise used game stores would eventually go out of business due to not being able to sell their used stock. This is the same thing as what once was said of blu-ray discs, which are basically paper, which in turn would break down (movies eventually will go to blu-ray) and would be wasted money.


I don't think Sony would be stupid enough to let Bill Gates overtake them, if they did, they'd deserve to go out of business completely (I absolutely abhor X-Box).
