  • Buy All 721 Super Nintendo Games

    By Erin McCarthy

Need a gift for that ultimate Super Nintendo fan you know? Look no further than this ebay listing, which contains all 721 SNES games ever made for the United States, Mexico, and Canada, for a mere $24,999.

In a post on Reddit three days ago, the Ohio-based seller said that collecting the set, which includes boxes for every game and manuals for 605 of the titles, took three years.

“From scouring every used game store in my home state, to bartering purchases from dozens of vendors online, to enlisting the help of everyone willing to search around their areas to find things for me, to donations of items that are impossible to find for sale anywhere, to hundreds upon hundreds of hours cleaning and polishing everything. I’ve never seen a set this complete before, and it’s unlikely another one will ever surface.”

The seller, who goes by byuu, compiled the set to create scans, which are now appearing on snescentral.com.

The set does not include not for retail and unlicensed games, and was built from individual sales, “so conditions range from near mint to fair. I took pains to spend more on better conditions for the more prized pieces of the collection,” the seller writes.

The games have been professionally cleaned and tested, and according to the seller, work perfectly; 100 percent of the profits from this sale will allow the seller to do the same for the European and Japanese SNES sets next. And if $24,999 is a little steep for you, don’t worry: The seller is willing to negotiate.

This sale obviously makes me wonder: What SNES game from this list would you kill to get your hands on?

He is one and the same. This is his about me from his website:

I'm a computer programmer, proficient in assembler, C, C++, PHP, and various web markup languages. I am also interested in foreign language, specifially East Asian variants. I have studied Japanese for several years, as well as Mandarin for less than a year; although I am not proficient in either yet.

My nickname is actually Japanese for "(to make a) mistake" -- albeit a less than common reading for it. The reason for using this name is a long story, but suffice to say it holds some personal truth, hence I have opted to keep the rather unflattering name.

My website is a collection of the various projects I have worked on, as well as some of the tools I have written. I typically only list projects which I have a lead role in here.

I am presently writing my own SNES emulator, bsnes. My goal is not to create the best SNES emulator, but to reverse-engineer as much of the system as I can, and document my findings; so that they can be used to improve the overall accuracy of all SNES emulators. In the future, I plan to post my documentation to this site as well.

I have also participated in the fan translation scene for the past decade or so. I have completed quite a few translations, the most notable being a Super Famicom title named "Der Langrisser". However, my primary role in this scene is assisting other people with their various projects behind the scenes. I also write tools such as bsnes' debugger, cross assemblers, and disassemblers.

As if I don't have enough to keep me busy: I also like to draw, and redigitize existing artwork using Photoshop. I would like to someday create a gallery of my works on this site.

Yeah, I heard about this. Cool that this guy went out and bought all these games to get proper dumps of each one. Quite a contribution to the SNES community.
