Does Hacking Ruin Games For You?

I was wondering if after you thoroughly hack a game, does it affect how you see/play the game?

I noticed that it's easy to go into "hacking" mode when I'm just trying to play a game for fun. Instead of just playing the game, I find myself trying to figure out how the programming works.

Luckily, this only happens with 8 and 16 bit games. It doesn't seem to happen much on newer generation games.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Edit: To answer your question, it depends on the game's genre. I sometimes find it hard to actually sit down and thoroughly play a game these days because I prefer hacking them.

I'm always stuck in hacking mode, I have a Droid phone and have root access and hack every game I play just because I can and it also makes it more entertaining to me as well. Only competitive online games I play seriously without cheating or hacking but even the newer consoles like the PS3 and Xbox360 and Wii we can hack and I try to when ever I can.

Usually doesn't affect me until I'm on my last guesses trying to find something, then I start getting pissed at the game.

Not really, if it's for fighters and sports games. Even though I enjoy playing both.

I do try and play through most of the game before hacking it. But when I take a peek in the code and see text such as debug, cheat, or silly/interesting comments left by the dev, I go into hack mode to see what they are all about. Sometimes it feels as if the devs want you to hack their games (I recall reading an interview somewhere where a programmer acknowledged this). The amount of content gone unused sometimes is just crazy. However, in the end, I realize two things: the devs either give it their all to make an enjoyable game, or they just do it for the money.

I feel the latter in some of the games I try on the newer systems, and just go back to the consoles before it. There I have more control, and can tweak the game to my liking, if need be.
