    ROM version differences

    Does anyone know of a website that details the differences in gameplay between ROM versions for NES, SNES, and/or Genesis games. For example: A website that will explain what differences, bug fixes, etc. there are in the gameplay between SNES':

    Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0)

    vs.

    Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.1) [!]

    I only know that Game Genie codes are different for the game version except pro action replay codes.

      I don't know of any that catalog them all. Some of the ROM sites used to have some fairly terse descriptions of the differences, but that'd be the only place I'd expect to see that kind of information for many different ROMs that have no relationship to each other. Game-, series-, or studio-specific websites are likely to have that information in almost ridiculous detail, though, for instance: http://rare.wikia.com/wiki/Donkey_Ko...on_differences

        How did you find that? What exactly did you type into Google to find that? Because I couldn't find anything when I searched Google. All the ROM sites I've ever saw never had that information. If you know of any ROM sites that still have that information, please shoot me a Private Message telling me which ROM site (because I'm not sure if it would be acceptable naming a ROM site in the forum section.)

          I'm pretty sure my Google search was:

          "Donkey Kong Country 2" version differences

          That site was in the top three or four results.

          I don't know of any ROM sites that have that information. I just vaguely remember looking for a ROM on one at some point, and they had a "notes" column in the listing that occasionally pointed out why there were two different versions of the same ROM for a given region.

            Usually wiki sites for specific series will note differences between game versions.

            tcrf.net also has something like that.
