well, i just decided to download ff7 for pc and give it a play, and i discovered this site: http://forums.qhimm.com/

they have all kinds of good mods for ff7pc. one that lets you play in hi res, one that changes clouds battle model, so it uses the really detailed one from that cloud vs seph fight at the very end, and one that makes it play the music from the psx version, instead of those crappy midis it uses.

this forces the game to load the battle graphics (for all the characters that have em) instead of the normal low poly "lego men" on every "field" map. they are currently modifying these so that that can "make" all the other characters in the game look like that. so far they have every character and np done up to and including the train after blowing up the first reactor.

i took a bunch of great screenshots, but i dont know where i can upload them, but on those links there are a bunch of pics.

Nice. Now if only somebody'd remake all the models and have the game render them with normal maps and silly things like that, modeled and rerendered the backgrounds, and remade the music with higher quality samples for the instruments... Oh, and remade the movies... Heh... That'd be severely bad ass. But it's bad ass anyway...

apparantly they can make models in the format that ff7 uses ( .p i think...) but the game doesnt really like to load stuff like that for some reason. eidos did a really crappy port job i guess...

oh, and i was gonna say, i got the game off of www.mininova.org, and pretty much the only problem running it, is that computers are too good to run it. currently if i wanna play any of the 3d minigames, ie snowboard or bike game, i gotta switch it to software rendering, or it goes 2 times as fast.

and if you do play it, i recommend ripping all the fmv from the psx game with PSXmc, because the pc version has CRAPPY fmv quality....

I'm not surprised. Just listen to the midi that comes with the game...

Oh, and another thing that I'm certain could be done, is a retranslation of the script... No more "this guy are sick" and such...


Sadly, getting the game is of no problem, but having hardware to run it on is. I'll just stick with the good old psx version for now...

actually it does fix some translations, not only does it say "this guy is sick" but it fixes the part at the honeybee in. remember whe it says

"So thats how you'll fool them!"
"...so thats how you fooled them..."


now its something like

"i need to go in here to get supplies to dress up as a girl"
"so thats how you plan to fool them!"

oh, and i wanted to post this:



its an example of how they are editing the existing graphics to make new characters. biggs is a modified "dyne" battle graphic, while wedge is palmer.
the jessie one is actually her prototype model that was left on the disk. all the characters were originally going to be full sized like that but square rused to get the game out.

yeah, although they are trying work on that, by resizing and aliasing, and sharpening etc, but so far no luck. it tends to glitch out the transparencies when they do that, like making them bright red.

but its still cool to see what they are currently doing.

:shock: Damn those look NICE!!!! And makes me want (someday when I can 'afford' the mess) a PS3 and that so-called FF7-remake they keep talking about booting around, not sure if it 'is' real..... but all the game mags love to say it is real...so ehh will have to wait and see , but that FF7 for all those older polygons looks so much better and smoother.

By the way Tifa gives the best head. hehehehe :lol: That IS funny, and heck, looks like she is. :shock: :lol:
