  • Oldest Yet Rarest Cartoon (TV and anime) You remember?

Okay well, 'why not' reason more to get more things such as topics and replies in this forum also, to wake up other stuff around abit.

Basic thing, so what is the 'rarest' cartoon (anime and TV show) you recall and remember? Type of an how old you are type of thing, but not flat out asking your age, and other then that to make it all interesting, like well, I wonder 'if' theyw ere showing the same thing in your area as they were mine and such.

I also say 'rarest' because well alot of the popular older stuff cartoons and other mess still comes on TV alot, and well as is most things these days 'near' everything is on DVD these days. I know Lazy likes The Smurfs, well he did, and yes The Smurfs is indeed old, but not too rare, though, shame really The Smurfs have not been made on DVD yet as far as I have seen, have seen them on old (like 1988) VHS tapes and such, but that has been well in the 80's

(heck even great news which made me thing of doing this topic again ALOT of great series comming and am on DVD now, whcih makes the old days really not all that 'old' at least in memory)

So now, well with me and cartoons I recall and well some still missed alot as not all are on DVD sets, and some TV shows still missing those DVD sets as of yet as well.

Also this is not exactly the 'oldest' out there but ehhh I have fond memories of these 'cartoons' myself. (I mean well, you know 'kids' right, when you are young and you play 'pretend' to be your favorite cartoon character and your school friends play that too on the playground at recess well just old good memories)

Anyway, I remember PacMan cartoon, yes they really had a cartoon based on PacMan, never 'pretended' that but still was fun and well, back then in the early 80's PacMan was BIG, I rememebr PacMan cerial and all else, candy, gum, heck many differen arcades of Pac and all his family, even the very first game room (arcade) ever placed in my area had a PacMan as it's huge neon sign. The name had 'nothing' to do with PacMan, but still, had him as a huge yellow sign, the places anme was 'The Big Dipper' heh to think video games was such a 'marvel' then and not exactly mainstream that the whole arcade thing was considered 'out of this world' type of mess always, space ships and mess always.

Otherwise, I also recall when I was in 4th grade and 5th grade, yeah yeah we all think we are 'mature' then but looking back, heh we were not at all, we all still were into pretend to be cartoon characters, ehh well so we were in my area alot. in those days, I recall Heathcliff and The cataliac Cats. Again that pretty much made me make this topic as I just got that DVD set from WalMart (ordered it ratehr and watching it alot now) and remembering it alot, the good days... ahhh 4th grade gosh 1984 was indeed a long time ago heh

Anyone ever see or saw that cartoon in your area? I know it is 'silly' but back then us children, hehe we were 'corny' I was always on the playground pretending I was 'Cleo' and other friends pretended they were the other cats on the cartoon show... I know silly but eh schol recess was neat then because the carton in my area came on in mornings before school and in the afternoon after school, so the dayw as doubled, ehh the old life heh.

I also rememebr Hello Kitty cartoon, that one where there was a blue cat named CatNip, if anyone recalls that as well.

Again not sure you all, or anyone may recall those cartoons, so eh here's to seeing.

Heck, I even ordered He-Man (yeah yeah He-Man, I am and was more into his 'sister' She-ra growing up, but still watched He-Man heck after all, then in the 80's was nto all that many cartoons on. So He-Man I ordered on DVD with hope, it sales well and can move on to She-ra, yeah the cartoons I admit do not look all that great these days, but well we were kids all of us, and when we were kids we did not see too well, I am starting to believe heh

eh well, anyone recall any of those cartoons at all in your area?

Oldest Yet Rarest Cartoon (TV and anime) You remember?

    Something I should also note,

On this 'Heathcliff' issue THIS Heathcliff the one with Cats and Company (Riff-Raff, Hector, Words-Worth, Mungo, and Cleo and few other charatcers) There is and was a Heathcliff cartoon BEFORE this one, I recall alot also, it is not on DVD, and well was not really my favorite as this one is, but was strange, this other one not even mentioned so guessing it si and was made by a differen company.

The other one was 1978, to 1981 series (yeah I was a smaller kid but still rcall that strange mess, even more so now because this older Heathcliff comes on that cartoon Network Boomerang channel alot. (where the Smurfs and older 'Hannah-Barberra' stuff also comes on, Smurfs is NOT Hannah-Barberrah BUT is and was put on English TV by them, yes hehe wonder if Lazy knew or knows that, Smurfs is a cartoon 'comic' book in fact from the 60's and 70's from a European nation, Italy, I think, but not sure. PacMan was also hannah-Barbarra, and I do believe this older Heathcliff is and was also.

This older one also had two shows, one main heathcliff cartoon 12 mins then another other cartoon 12 mines, with advertising that adds all up to 30 min shows, so well you know. This OTHER Heathcliff's 'other show' was Called DingBat and Co. I think, it was all abotu a 'vampire' dog named Dingbat, a skeleton named Spare Rib, who could 'transform' into anything, cartoon skeletons, you know, and a 'Pumpkin named 'whatever' (yes seriously) who would open his head and pull out 'anything' they ever needed' A Jack-O-Latern pumpkin head thing, well you know who hand hands and feet but no body and pulled out anything of any size out of the top of his head, be it the titanic if he needed it.

So anyway again not sure you all if anyone has ever saw or ehard of that mess, hehe it is funny, but when I showed it to my cousins and my sisters who cannot even remember it because well they were born after it was off air in anycase and never saw it, showed it to them on that Boomerang channel a few times, and they laughed their butts off, and then as you may expect with what I just described as a 'cartoon' all those questions came up about 'what were they smoking in the late 70's early 80's...and well you can see that and understand that I guess, ALOT of cartoons if you think about it back then the old old old old days were kinda 'out there' in alot of strange ways.

eh well, anyone rememebr that at all either? I am guessing no, but eh well, would be cool if someone maybe recalled some of anything I am talking about, I feel 'old' now alot with all these 'classic' cartoons and classic TV hitting DVD collections.

I don't recall seeing the Teenwolf or Dungeon and Dragons cartoons for sale on tapes or DVD. That is perhaps the rarest cartoons I can think of. Oya, and the Alf cartoon also. I myself only saw 5 minutes of that show. That came out when NBC still used to show Saturday Morning cartoons. I think that Alf was still on his homeplanet on that Cartoon.

Goodness, now those are some rare ones Hiro came up with, no disrespect towards all others, in anyway, heh guess Hiro and I were just more into cartoons as kids, or well heck we may just be 'that old' :P

I remember the one Lazy said, Captain Planet and as he said, not really 'old' heck it comes on now in my area every morning, shows from 1993 but ehh still runs it's re-runs.

As for those Hiro said, I remember all of those, gosh I am really old feeling now, Those Thunder Cats are indeed 'old' also, but Cartoon Network has shown them so many times, it is hard for anyone not to know of them, same with most things like transformers and such, and even 'He-Man' and all that mess, only two seasons of him (4 counting his sister She-Ra when they went to that) but He-Man and She-Ra I believe 'everyone' saw at some time or another.

Note this upcomming He-Man on DVD mess hehe they even 'say' how He-Man was nothing more then Mattel's 30 min commercial trying to sale those toy 'action figure dolls'... times were strange, specialy how the 'dolls' of She-Ra was for girls, ofcorse heh and the 'dolls' or well action figures of 'She-Ra's 'foe was for boys too, that evil horde mess. Ehhh well when we were kids we loved what we did, heck, Milla Jovovich who is only around 40 days younger then I am (yes true I was born Nov 9th 1975, she Dec 17th 1975 so 'some days' did not do an exact count but ehh.)

I mean as is she has said a few times at how she grew up 'playing' She-Ra Princess Of Power, and I did as well 'long' ago...ahh the good old days of the generation I am in.

Otherwise as for those cartoons Hiro said, I do remember those as well, I 'played' some of them also, specialy in that Dungeans & Dragons cartoon, seemed it was well liked ammong all us girls and boys of that age then. (As is well finding a cartoon and games to play all together girls and boys was not exactly easy then, so had to try and that cartoon did that as well as He-Man and his sister She-Ra cartoons.)

Strange that cartoon and well 'most' cartoons always had and have a 'cute' blonde guy as the hunk leader always, look at He-Man, and even today Winx Club and all else have the leader hunky cute blonde guy for us girls heh had that guy, the goofy magician 'nerd', the coward with that shield, that little kid who was a viking and I never thought 'washed' himself alot, the black girl who was an acrobat, and the 'mage' girl with short red hair. (who would turn invisible when she put that hoody on) That was 'odd' she had only that power, and there was 'already' another guy magic nerd person, so ehh found it odd to have a 'mage' and a 'magician'. ehhh maybe that is all where the 'idea' for Black Mage and White Mage came from in those FF games?

Anyway I remember that cartoon and playing it with others in my area and street, hehe I was always the 'Mage' girl and 'pretended' I could be invisible by putting a little hoody on...gahhh hehe I look at that and laugh how silly it all was, I always pretending others could not see me.

Anyway to move on, as for Teen Wolf, I rememebr and rather liked that cartoon as well, was like the movie, but a series well 'almost' heh after all it was well as you know like the movie started and then 'froze' in the middle. 'Booth' always 'loved' Scott (Wolfie famous guy Micheal J Fox, in cartoon form) Scott was all after 'Pam', Stiles was always trying some new 'wolf' sceme always, and 'Mic' was a big bully. and the series stayed that way for well I'd say it had a few showings and shows. The only thing I found 'messed' up about the cartoon was well, Scott did not beat the snott out of 'Mic' the Bully. I mean yeah the movie dealt with that all in one setting, but still on the cartoon, it was just different, sorta like 'hide my special power so no one but everyone knows I am a wolf' type of thing.

On the 'Alf' cartoon hehe I remember that one too, that was strange, and yes 'Alf' or Gordon was non his home planet then, had himself a small gang, himself, a talk skinny 'alf' and a shorter fat one that always was his 'gang of frinds'. He had his girlfriend (TWO of them!!!!) One Rhonda he always talked about on the sitcom 'show', and a waitress named 'Stella' who of corse had that classic movie quote mess where people yell the name 'Stellllllllllllla!!!!!!!!' always.

And you all may think I am really old or otherwise strnage, but for some reason I remember ONE show of that really good, it was the one where 'Gordon' (ALF) gotsome type of spell put on him, and all he touched would loose their hair, and he went and touched his little sister and that 'girl' baby 'alf' thing went 'naked'...it was creepy looking hehe ahd clothing but still, an alf with no hair. But ehh was life then and the cartoon, now that I really think about it.... really it is 'sad' I mean on the cartoon he had his whole planet and his family and his mom and dad and sister and friends, then on the 'sitcom' he looses them all....

I mean I know all make-believe, but still, just sad really to even think of someone in that boat. :?

Hmmm otherwise, I was not really into the sitcom of ALF, I wonder if that cartoon is or will be on that sitcom DVD collection? Heck is that sitcom even on DVD yet? If not it should be, I am not a fan, but I am sure many would buy that.

And I say the cartoon 'may' be on that because of the Punky Brewster DVD Collections, yes I grew up watching that as well, and have collected the first two sets, and these sets do have that Punky Brewster 'cartoon' on them, not sure that anyone rememebrs that but it came on around same time on NBC as well as the ALF cartoon did. That cartoon is funny, I love it in cartoon when 'Punky' gets surprised and her pig tails stand on end. In a cartoon your hair can move to your mood, hehe gotta LOVE the cartoon world.

ehh hell I typed too much and now no one will read it all.

Holy crap, I forgot all about the dungeons and dragons cartoon... I used to watch that when I was a kid... The only thing I really remember nowadays is someone saying "A pox upon you!"... man I thought that was a great line. And there was a character my friend's older sister liked... something about silver or grey... maybe it was part of his name.. or his hair was silver or grey... or something...

Also, Captain N for the win. It's not terribly rare... but I guess it's rareness is up a bit due to the fact that there will never be Captain N dvds.

heh I can and do understand the dungeons and dragons thing as said in my long post no one will read, ehh maybe Lazy but said how heck even us girls LOVED that cartoon, though we about all forgot about it. I LOVED that blonde guy, and not sure, maybe his name was Silver or soemthing again has been darn years. I recall more as I said 'playing pretend' that with my brothers and sisters and other kids around town at the parks and club houses and all else.

I was always 'pretending' to be the 'mage' girl, whom had short 'red' hair, I always had short hair, but red is not my natural color, so Halloween even I at those times went into red headed mode heh ahh the good old days when we little girls wanted our hair fixxed and color changed and we had our mom help do it all for us, what a bother it is to do it all yourself now. (speaking NOW from the BloodRayne dress up I do for Haunted Hosue this Halloween season each weekend in October gahhhh....)

As for the Captain N and Zelda and Mario cartoons, I also recall those, they were two of them, which types do you have there Lazy? Just curious as well would like to see and relive those times, but blahhhh my PC speed and space would never hold them so you are safe as far as that goes hehe, on my PC too danr much Sims and Sims 2 and RollerCoastal Tycoons and BloodRayne and Resident Evil PC games PLUS all the music and 'p0rn' and I have like 1.28 GBs of free space used just for temp net files and 'running' my PC. So no worries on that, just wondered which they were beinng as there are and were 'two types'

The type #1 is the Mario Show which had a way better Zelda Cartoon each Friday, and had live action Mario and Lugi on the show for some 15 mins. before the 15 min cartoon, 30 min show you know eh. That older Wretling guy Captain Lou with all those rubber bands in his beard was 'Mario' in that show, and the live action was fun, but the Mario cartoons kind of sucked ass hehe, Zelda each Friday is what most were after. The Mario cartoon was all about Bowser and his 'kids' from Mario Bros 3. And Zelda I think was after Zelda 2. Seemed NO Gannon, he was 'dead' and Zelda was 'awake' so seemed was mostly Link running around old dungens doing BS mess hehe but was rather cool in that time as I recall it.

The type #2 was that captain N show, which was well Okay and all in all a mess as well. I mean how come King Hippo was 'blue'? Why was Simon belmont dressed in that outfit and most of all why was he a 'wuss' coward? Other then that all in all what the hell was that ugly thing they called 'Mother Brain' also? An old okay cartoon, but I think that cartoon scared a few kids hehe

All in all classics and sad to say but as edgar said, none of those will ever be on DVD collections, such a shame the big Nintendo tends to wish to forget their past other then doucument it. (Specialy when they call it a 'mistake' as they say those cartoons are and were.)

The SMB shows are available on video and vhs. But they don't include the live action segments. On or off topic I hated when they killed off the Live action mario in the 2nd season. They just had a Wayne and Garth or something hosting the show in less fun segments. I think I remember loving the Mario Cartoons when I was younger but now when I watch them I can't get into them so much. They were obviously made for a younger audience.

When I was little, I useta watch Popeye beat the shit outta Bluto every day...along with Betty Boop, & Woody Woodpecker with two teeth. My fave animated show at the time was the old Superman short stories. Then came Rocky & Bullwinkle along w/all the other chars on the show such as Dudley Do-Right, Prof. Peabody, Fractured fairy Tales, etc. Then came Top Cat, Pink Panther, Quick-Draw Mc Graw with Baba Looie, & a whole buncha others I can't recall on short notice. My sons liked TMNTs & Power Rangers.

I have several of the old Mario tapes where Mario was the live host who introduced the animated cartoons. "Live" Mario was ably played by the old rassler "Capt." Lou Albano.

I advised my grown sons to keep their TMNT "action figures" as they someday be valuable like G.I. Joe & Batman stuff from the old Batman TV show now are.
I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.

alot and thought it was strange also)

The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley (STUPID cartoon funny but stupid as hell, ed grimly reminds me of 'jay007' and rune , seems they would be as corny and stupid as this idiot.)

                          Dennis The Menace

                          Dink, the Little Dinosaur

Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO (hehe corny star wars 'spin off' that hardly 'worked' right, funny still, yet corny, and was I the only one to wonder 'why' 'Boba-Fett' was on the show comming 'on' yet was never in any of the episodes?)

The Dukes (Animated 'cartoon' of ofcorse the Dukes Of Hazard, well some liked it some hated it, the show and the cartoon, but ehh all agree the movie SUCKS ass---johnny knoxville, PLEASE what a complete 'pussy' and yes that is from me, a woman.)

Dungeons & Dragons (The CLASSIC) hehe I was always playing 'pretend' to be the mage red ehaded girl. on that site even shows her, neat, I was a silly little girl then.)

Ewoks (Another star wars 'spin off' that hardly worked', but was still more fun and interesting then wussy CP30 droid mess.)

Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids (True Classic here as well)

The Flintstones Comedy Show (ah that Flinstones Show with that Monster family)

Gilligan's Planet (yeah Gilligan of all people on a whole other planet, this cartoon was 'corny' but pretty good otherwise, an cartoon of the 'show' set in space on another planet.)

                          The Karate Kid

Kidd Video (I LOVED this show, it played alot of great 80's music whcih was kinda hard to get then, only on tapes and then tapes were costly and not net to download mess, so this and the cat people were neat.)

Land of the Lost (ehh this came out in the 70's 1974 before I was around, but played alot in the 80's.... kind of corny, this show was corny and really badly done, but ehh is and was a 70's show)

                          The Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show

Mister T (Mister T trains gymnasts, was really into watching this when I was also training in gymnastics, not a great show but ehh, how the hell can a big man tell a little girl how to do the splits I always wondered from this cartoon.)

The Mork & Mindy / Laverne and Shirley / Fonz Hour (pretty same as the fonz cartoon and the Laverne & Shirley In The Army cartoon, but with 'Mork & Mindy in it also ofcorse...eh)

Muppet Babies (Classic greatness, piggy is still a fat ass which I cannot stand, but who knew opening the closet doors would lead to Star Wars battles in space? Plus what the ehck was 'nanny' never saw her face...kinda scary, all the other 'animal childre' and such and nanny was... well scary hehe)

                          Romper Room

Rubik the Amazing Cube (a talking bald blue head on that cube toy...ehhh corny as hell, stupid but still kind of classic, the way it was hooked with Pac Man and meant to sale that toy to everyone, otherwise, i hated this idiot cube talking thing.)

Saved by the Bell (corny mess about highschool, but hey at least 'Jessie' in 'Show Girls' showed her breasts.)

                          Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends

Strawberry Shortcake (classic though 'now' looks like a deformed FF6
                          character)

Super Friends: Justice League (classic 'wonder twin powers activate' wooo hehe)

Oldest Yet Rarest Cartoon (TV and anime) You remember?

A lot of those toons I saw back in the day, Saturday Supercade was 90 minutes of pure bliss from the yesteryears of videogaming, with Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Q-Bert, Pitfall, and other games, Pole Position was also an old game and had it's own toon, but that one I wasn't fond of. And to think I'm cool with the game itself.

The greatest space fighter ever made, the Vic Viper.
