Security Updates for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2

Is anyone having the same problem as I am with "Windows Update" in which it keeps alerting you to install 3 critical security updates to .NET Framework 2.0 SP2:

KB 2633880

KB 2518864

KB 2572073

After installing those 3 updates and it saying that the installation was successful and after I shut down the computer and restart it, Windows Update still continues to alert me of those updates. I did a search of this problem and it seems that SO MANY people are having the same problem. I don't know why Microsoft still hasn't fixed the problem. Are you experiencing this same problem? If so, have you found a solution?

(I am using Microsoft Windows 32-bit XP SP3. I think the problem mainly affects people using Win XP SP3)

(Also, when I go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Click "Show Updates" > I don't see those 3 updates installed)

Nah, I didn't get those updates since I'm running Windows 7 SP1. So yeah, it probably only affects those that are running Windows XP.

I just dealt with that problem and fixed it yesterday. It kept installing the same NET update and I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. As it installed it went to an incredibly slow crawl but task manager said the computer wasn't using any CPU, which is a lie because I wouldn't need to wait 15 minutes for a mouse click or keyboard shortcut to respond. Tried the windows update diagnostic tool, it kept saying it fixed the same 3 problems over and over to no end. I gave up, let the thing take about 4 hours to finish it's stupid supposed "install", and that gave me a window of opportunity where the lag was gone to try a virus scanner. I tried panda cloud scan, it found a trojan that was 5 files or registry entries, I don't remember. It healed them, and the problem was fixed, but I still can't install those updates now. As far as I can tell, the updates worked, they are just still in the list and the windows update help file said the error code I was getting means things already installed but for some reason still show up and I can't fix them, so just hide the updates. I did the windows update diagnostic thing again a few times and it just fixes the same 3 errors over and over forever still, but that's no problem. They are installed, otherwise my speakers wouldn't work.

This thread is almost a year old. I experienced that problem then. But I found out what was happening. Microsoft messed up and released faulty updates. Thousands of people experienced the same problem as I. So what wind up happening was that Microsoft withdrew the updates. Then at a later date, they must have fixed the updates and re-released them. If you Google those specific .NET updates that I listed, you can read about the problem on the Microsoft forums.

I had a feeling that user was a bot. Seeing as you recently had an infection, give GMER a run to see if it picks up anything lingering in your system.

@ OldSchoolGamer: I don't know if you're still using XP, but you could use caution, and set Automatic Updates to "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them". Then search around to see how the update(s) affects others before installing them. You can keep track of new patches here.

Yep, that's what I do.

GMER was one of the things I did first, but the trojan somehow made windows update lag my computer so badly that it never did make it to finishing. I tried after the trojan was found and removed and it didn't find anything.
