  • Music Media file converting, please a little 'how to'?

Short and simple 'how' do you convert music files, like an AU file to an midi, or mid, or mp3 or wav, please? I tried a rename but that does not seem to work like it does on 'some' movie file types....
so maybe a short and simple way to do that, please? Maybe with winamp?

There are ways to convert things to midi, but none of them are worth it. For just about any audio format, using foobar2000 is probably the easiest way to do it. I'd say use VLC Media Player for video, even though it's not too good at playing some things, and has a limited set of output formats.

You can get foobar here: http://www.foobar2000.org/foobar2000_special.exe

It's pretty easy to use, and can handle some odd things if you choose the Full Installation when installing it. With it running, to convert something you go to Playlist (menu) -> Add (files, folder, whatever) and once it's loaded some stuff, select the file(s) you want converted, right click, and there's an option for Convert. Choose that, something will pop up asking what format you want to conver to. Do that, hit OK or whatever, tell it where you want the files, and then it's just a matter of waiting.

VLC Media Player is here: http://www.videolan.org/mirror.html?....8.2-win32.exe

I'm fairly sure this was a matter of installing it, and then choosing the wizard for saving/converting from one of the menus.

Music Media file converting, please a little 'how to'?

hmmmm... any other way maybe please to convert video files, maybe? This VLC player seems good but when I go into the wizard it stops working and all that mess of control/alternate/delete/ 'this program is not responding' and restarted my PC several times and well just does not seem this program is well 'liked' when converting, any idea why that may be, or anyother ways, please?
