  • A program changed my computer color mode and I can't change it back

A program asked me if I wanted to switch the graphical mode to a lower one so the program wouldn't lag. I clicked the X because I'd have assumed it got the hint. Wrong. I switched it to a lower setting and things look crappier. It's like going from 65536 to 256. Windows 7 has no possible way that I can find to change it back. It says the color are set to their highest. I say liars. I manually switch from high to true. No change, I change it back to high, no change. I try to change all kinds of things relating to color and not a single thing does it. This black text I am typing appears purple to me now. My desktop background looks like purple blotchy crap. The edges of every window and whatever else are purple too. This looks like blotchy ugly crap. I can't figure it out. No monitor settings nor things the computer has affect it. I went to the options of the program that changed it and their is nothing related to color to undo it. It's really irritating me badly.

The program was called Debut Video Capture Software, I was led to it from a Firefox plugin site that was cnet.download.com.

Anybody know why Windows 7 has its head up its ass?

This has become more interesting. The problem is fixed, but I don't know why. Yesterday I went to the Ativa website since it's an Ativa AT220H Monitor. Their site has drivers for whatever stuff they have. I go there, and only get a multilingual pdf user manual. I look around, not sure about where to download drivers. I call their support and describe the problem. They tell me the monitor is supposed to say "Generic PnP Monitor". That throws out the guess about a corrupted driver. They say they could help me if it was a resolution or brightness problem, otherwise call Office Depot. I was about to, but the work day was over and I said I'll wait to call them. I come back to work this day, turn on the computer, and problem fixed.

I'm flat out baffled, I restarted the computer about 10 different times and even used Restore Points and got the same problem. I'm just guessing I should have shut it down completely and yanked the cord for a minute. Either way, I'm happy not to have ugly orange and purple blotchy colors.
