    2012 Doomday

    Long ago Professional Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending doom in 2012.

    Some people thought to be some type of cataclysmic events.

    To me these S O P A like bills will destroy the current civilization and electronics networks,

    that be The End of World as we know of today.

      you forgetting about other countries.

      Music, Film and Video Games Industries are pushing of S O P A style provisions into Bill in other countries like Canada, Germany, etc.

      or pass other bill like A C T A without your knowledge.

      Their demands include new bills:

      * expansion of the enabler provision to include S O P A style expanded liability
      * create new injunction powers to block websites
      * create new injunction powers to remove content from websites
      * require I S P s to implement a policy on repeat infringers that could include Internet termination
      * remove the non-commercial liability cap for statutory damages
      * restrict the user-generated content provision
      * create new limits on personal copying exception
      * create new limits on time shifting exception
      * create additional limits on backup copy provision
      * limit the safe harbour for I S P s
      * limit the safe harbour for caching activities
      * limit the safe harbour for hosting content
      * limit the search engine (I L T) exception
      * eliminate the ephemeral recording amendment

        What the hell is a "Professional Mayanist scholar"?

        The whole "Mayan Prophecy" load is based on their cyclical calendar anyway. I really don't think they foresaw nuclear cataclysm or global, government clamp-downs on freedom because of rampant copyright infringement. They were just an ancient culture that really enjoyed wrapping up their mysticism with astronomy and math, and they were a little OCD about it, so they worked things out for a thousand years or more in either direction.

          Indeed; there's nothing specifically indicating a cataclysm. The calendar just ends. If they had determined that the world would end, they probably would have specified that, as they were quite meticulous at specifying every other detail of the things they catalogued.

          Moreover, the destruction of their empire is a strong indicator that they didn't have clairvoyant abilities, or they probably would have figured out a way to avert that danger. This means that even if they DID intend to say that the world (or civilization as we know it) will be destroyed in 2012, they could only have known so on an astronomical basis; in other words, they would be referring to something colliding with earth, a solar event of some sort, a black hole, etc. But again, none of these was mentioned, despite the Mayans' propensity for detailed chronicling.

          In any case, 2012 hysteria is just the latest in a long list of doomsday myths that have all been disproved.

            Some people believe that their calender ending on December 21, 2012 means that will be the end of the world. Other people believe all it means is it's just the end of their calender/cycle.

            But remember this, all calanders MUST end. Meaning, there's only so much stone on the planet. So even if they gathered every piece of stone that exists on the planet, eventually the calender must end because there would be no more room to engrave/write the calander on.
