  • A Dragonfly That Could Kill a Man

I was helping my girlfriend move last night when we saw it -- a dragonfly that could destroy a building with a single flap of its wing. A dragonfly so massive that it had smaller dragonflies orbiting it.

(well.. maybe it wasnt all that big, but it was the largest one I've ever seen)

The pictures really dont do it justice, but here goes:

Does anyone else have dragonflies this large around where they live? O_o

That's a pretty damn big one. Good thing those aren't known for attacking humans...

Yeah, see those kind around here all the time, they do away with some of the mosquito population, so they are beneficial. Most of the time when I see one that size they usually are hurt pretty bad from being hit by car windshields or grills.

Yeah, they're common here in Southern Ohio from April till the middle or end of October. They have no stinger, nor are their jaws big enuff to bite a person. As Bloodreign said, they're GREAT mosquito-eaters

However, nothing in this area eats bugs like the purple martins and common brown bats.
