makai kingdom is a very cool game. im only about half way through it, but i think i MAY even like it better than disgaea.
the game pretty much feels like phantom brave, except that when you summon characters into battle, they dont "remove" themselves after 5 or so turns.
another thing i really like, and this is the first time its been done in the whole series of games, is that all your weapon skills and learned directly to your character, instead of your weapons. previously if you changed your weapon, for example to a stronger one, all the skills that you had learned would be lost, as they were learned to the weapon. now, as long as its the same type of weapon ie sword or spear, you still have all the abilities.
the humor has improved since phantom brave as well, although i dont think its quite as funny as disgaea, its far "funnier" than la pucelle: tactics.
and best of all this game has vehiciles that you can ride, everything from metal gear rip offs (called "gear metal lex" heh) to jets and riding body armor (which remind me of those things from matrix 2 and 3)
it keeps the "gridless" action from phantom brave, for better and worse, its nice not being limited to the "squares" you can move to, but at the same time, it can become very crowded, and difficult to pick the character you want.
the music is pretty groovy too, and the graphics... well i think they are awesome, but im a sucker for sprite based graphics, although the whole thing seems really low res, making it a little hard to tell the difference between some of the icons, especially things like "daggers" and "swords".
all in all, fantastic game, and if anyones lookin for a good SRPG, give it a try.
