Delay for January Stanford Online Courses

Online Computer Science classes that have attracted tens of thousands of students have been put back for a couple of weeks. Is this on account of Sebastian Thrun's resignation from Stanford?

Online Computer Science Education for Free

Last autumn hundreds of thousands of students signed up for three computer-related free online courses offered under the auspices of Stanford University.

This year the number of courses on offer has expanded, but now run by two newly launched companies, Udacity and Coursera.

        CS101 Course Status Update‏

        CS101 Course Staff

        To dlevere

        Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay -- we've had some unexpected administrative hurdles, and want to make sure that everything is straightened out before we go live. We're making good progress on all that, so we expect the course should now start in the second half of March. In any case, we'll send out an email 2 weeks before the course starts, so you will have good warning before things get going. We're also taking advantage of the delay to add some new videos for the online course. At any time, you can go to the course home page -- http://www.cs101-class.org/ -- to get the latest info.

Sorry for all the confusion, but I'm really happy with the way the CS101 online materials are shaping up.

        Cheers,

        Nick
