  • I Don't Want Pixely And Simple Looking Games For New Consoles

Out of the blue I thought I'd like to go through the games for the PS3 to see what interesting games there are that I've missed, and at this point I've gone through pages of games that look like they'd work perfect on a PS1 or even an old Nintendo. I'm getting sick of seeing them. What in the hell is the point of the newer consoles having the capability for such advanced graphics if nobody is going to use them? I keep going through and grumbling more and more thinking there needs to be a separate list for games that have an appearance that can't be made for the previous consoles. I'm thinking like Dead Space. You can't pull that off on earlier consoles. Instead everything just keeps repeating along the lines of this:
    http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/637911-a...s/gs_screen-19

I just keep seeing combinations of simple graphics, top down view, sprites, very round child friendly cartoony looking everything meant to look cuddly and cute, simple minded gameplay like "All Zombies Must Die" or side scrollers or whatever. Is there some site on Earth that filters this stuff out so I can easily find things meant to have complex graphics?

At this point I'm going through them looking for things that aren't like those that would catch my attention. I've come across these so far:
    Afterfall: Insanity
    AMY
    Dante's Inferno
    Dark Sector
    Dark Souls
    The Darkness

    Obviously, you've been browsing alphabetically

Yeah, I've noticed that myself. I do like plenty of games with fairly simple graphics, though. I'm currently playing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and it's awesome (having played FFIV as a kid...and later as an adult, heh).

I think what's happening here is, people still want to make visually simple games, and there is still a market for it, and since the current consoles are the most commonly used, it's logical to market your new, aesthetically minimal game on the latest, monster-graphics console.
    I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

Yep, going alphabetically when I get the time. I'm up to about "C". I wouldn't mind those simple games if it didn't seem like they were the majority. It looks like attack of the endless clones.
