  • What is your favorite retro gaming console?

I was testing to figure out how to make a poll. I guess I figured it out.

If your favorite retro gaming system is not one of those options, then just choose your favorite out of the choices available.

My favorite is the NES because is the first console that I ever played with Super Mario being the first game. Of course I like the Super NES and all the game boy handhelds. I didn't really like Sega Genesis too much except for the Sonic series.

Zelda 3? Do you mean "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past?

And I voted for the NES because in my opinion, it is the best gaming system ever made and will always be the best gaming system ever made.

You mean I have to pick just one? I've got games games from the SNES, NES, & Genesis that I enjoy greatly. If I had to just choose 1, then I would have to go with the SNES. This would be simply because just about anytime I would buy a game that was made for the arcades, the SNES always came closest to it. Of course there were a few games that we off, like Final Fight & Mortal Kombat, but they still looked & sounded much like the arcade version even theough they were censored.

Granted the NES had games that are deep in my heart like Mega Man 1 - 6, but their version of an arcade translation was way off most of the time. A few examples were P.O.W., Renegade, & Double Dragon. They were still good games, but would have been better if it followed more closely to the arcade. I will say that after playing Double Dragon 3 for Genesis & the arcade, I like the NES version better. I just didn't like how in the Double Dragon games how the weapons would disappear. I thought that Operation Wolf & Ghosts 'N' Goblins were pretty close to its arcade counterparts.

The Genesis version also had some games I enjoyed. The only problem with the Genesis is when you took the same game that they made for SNES, the SNES version had better sound & didn't sound scratchy like the Genesis did. I also noticed that the Genesis' graphics were also grainy. This is most noticeable for WWF Royal Rumble & WWF Raw. My favorite Genesis games would have to be Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3, Shadow Dancer (although different from the arcade), Skitchin', Road Rash 1, 2, & 3, & Contra: Hard Corps. The Sega Genesis also had the SNES beat for WWF Wrestlemania. For some reason, they left Bam Bam Bigelow & Yokozuna out of the game, the Genesis didn't.

Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

I don't consider Playstation, N64, and any game systems newer than them to be Retro. I know people consider them Retro, but in my mind, they are not. I feel that Retro game systems are any game system 16-bit or less. I feel that the last retro game system are the SNES and Sega Genesis. I feel that any game system, in which games come on a CD, are not retro. So if a game system plays games that are on a CD, they are not considered retro in my mind. I know most people will disagree, but that's just how I feel/think. I'm sure there are a couple exceptions in which there might be some game systems that play games on CDs that are 16-bit or less, but I'm not familiar with those game systems. I look at it like the N64 is the first new generation game system. Or maybe even the Sega 32x.
