  • GoldenEye Reloaded in the works

    By Fred Dutton

Activision is readying something called GoldenEye Reloaded, according to a set of domain names dug up by Twitter sleuth Superannuation.

The tipster spotted four URL registrations logged by the publisher last week for: goldeneye007gamereloaded.com, goldeneyereloadedgame.com, goldeneyereloaded007.com and goldeneye007reloaded.com.

There's no indication as to what exactly the publisher is up to, but a port of last year's largely excellent Eurocom-developed Wii shooter GoldenEye 007 seems a likely bet.

A 3DS version perhaps? Or maybe an HD PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade download? Superannuation noted in a later tweet that Sony flashed the 007 logo up on a slide during its E3 show as one of the brands coming to Move.

During an investor call back in May, Activision announced that it would be releasing a new Bond game at some point this year, though didn't offer any further details.

Singularity developer Raven Software is rumored to be working on a 007 title, though no official announcement has been made as to when we might see that.

A port of the Wii version for consoles other than Nintendo consoles won't happen because Nintendo partly owns the license of the original game. They would have to make a whole new game, and if they do that, it's not really Goldeneye anymore. Not that the Wii version was really Goldeneye either.

Following a domain name listing yesterday, Activision has now formally announced GoldenEye 007: Reloaded. It's coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year with a brand new engine and support for the PlayStation Move.

A whole new mode called ‘Mi6 Ops Missions' has also been added to this HD conversion which will feature "new, distinct levels separate from the campaign that span the varied environments from the story and challenge players to complete different Assault, Elimination, Stealth and Defense objectives."

Also confirmed for the game is four-player split-screen and 16-player online matches which are promised to have "more maps, weapons, characters and game modes than ever before.”

007 Reloaded ships with challenge editor

        By Rain Anderson

This fall’s HD re-release of GoldenEye, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, will come complete with an editor for its Mi6 Ops Missions, Activision producer producer James Steer has revealed.

The missions are made up of challenges where players must complete purpose-built levels, be in through stealth, action, or by surviving waves of enemies. With the included editor, said challenges can be tweaked to one’s delight.

“We’ve added a challenge designer so you can take challenges that were designed by the level designers at Eurocom, and actually play around with some of the modifiers in there to create your own versions,” Steer says.

The Mi6 mode will also come complete with online leader boards; bragging rights are important.

        Reloaded is out this fall.

Kinda late to release it. Shoulda been released alongside with the Wii version. Should still make a good purchase.
