  • NES Unreleased Prototypes

I am trying to come up with a list of every Unreleased Prototype NES game in which the ROM has been DUMPED. I included a list at the bottom of this post. Please post any Unreleased Prototype NES game that I failed to include in the list.

The list does NOT include hacks. It does NOT include unreleased games that were made after the NES era. It does NOT include a game that is identicle to a game that was released to the public except for changes to a sprite, level, end boss, cutscene, title screen, etc. It does NOT include prototypes that have the same title as a game that has been released to the public & sold in stores.

Examples of games that the list does NOT include:

Mickey Mouse - Dream Balloon (Because it's the same game as Kid Klown except it has Micky Mouse starring in it instead of the clown)
Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch (Because it's the same game as Power Punch 2 except it has Mike Tyson in it)
Batman Proto (Because it has the same title as the released Batman and it's just a different variation of the released Batman with differences such as cutscenes, end bosses, etc)
Exerion II (Because it is a hack of Exerion I with better graphics & different title screen)

I'm only interested in making a list of unreleased prototype NES games made by REAL companies during the NES era that was supposed to be sold to the public but for one reason or another, it never happened, the game was cancelled, and NO VARIATION of the game ever got released in ANY region of the world.

    Unreleased Prototype NES Games List:

    Adventures of Dr. Franken
    Airball
    Arcadia VI
    Bio Force Ape
    Buzz & Waldog
    California Raisins: The Grape Escape
    Chuck Yeagar's Fighter Combat
    Drac's Night Out
    Dragon Wars
    Dreamworld Pogie
    Escape From Atlantis
    Final Fantasy II
    Free Fall
    Happy Camper
    Hero Quest
    Hit the Ice
    Hoppin Mad
    Kitty's Catch
    Legend of Robin Hood
    Makai Island
    Pestacore
    Robocop vs. The Terminator
Sara Parker's Pool Challenge a.k.a. Cuestick a.ka. Robert Byrne's Pool Challenge
    Secret Ties
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
    Sunman
Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends
    Time Diver Eon Man
    Titan Warriors
Tommy T's Play Me Sound Editor
    U-Force Power Games
    War On Wheels
    Way Of The Exploding Fist
    Xybots

I am not looking to download the games listed. I just wanted to create a list so I can know the names of every unreleased prototypes for the NES that are definitely known to exist. If anyone knows any other games that I did not include in the list, please post the name of the game that is missing in the list. That is why I made the list for... so people can look at it and add any missing games to the list. I could not find a complete list of unreleased prototype NES games on the internet, so I decided to make one.

You are wasting your time, just go to the lostlevels forums. People there are experts and they can give you or point you in the direction of a list.

      Or just use google.

        Or just use google.
I used google, lostlevels.org, atariage.com, digitpress.com, unseen64.net, nesworld.com and nintendoage.com and I could not find a complete list of the kind of list I mentioned above. I saw incomplete lists and lists that didn't have the filtering as the list I posted above.

But that is a good suggestion to join a forum such as lostlevels to ask those people who would be more knowledgeable on the matter.

This is kind of the thing that can upset the people who actually have the physical prototypes. Somehow dumps existing "ruins" that they own what may have been a unique example of a specific game. As such... There's going to be considerably more games that had been at some point intended for actual release that have prototypes that have been dumped, that nobody will admit have dumps existing anywhere. I don't mean to say this is a bad thing to look into, it'll just be rather difficult to get accurate information on the subject.

Thank you. I have deleted them from the list. But I have a question for you...

After seeing screen shots of the unreleased prototype Chuck Yeager's Fighter Combat, it looks very much like Ultimate Air Combat. So are they pratically the same game? If so, I will have to delete Chuck Yeager's Fighter Combat from the list.

I didn't add "Virus" (very early Dr Mario) because of the filters of the list. I also didn't add "Bowling" (localization of perfect bowling) because of the filters of the list as well. If I should add them, please explain to me why.

I did add "The Way of the Exploding Fist". Thanks.

added Tommy T's Play Me Sound Editor. It meets the list requirements but it's not really a game you can play.

trust me they are very different games UAC uses only a 3Dish background with sprite planes which looks horrible when to bank left or right the selection of 4 missions is also different CYFC has a progression of levels. plus you cannot choose your plane and looks a lot better controls are better CYFC in my opionion should have been released its a great game.

plus there's the refueling stages in CYFC which can get to be a pain
