  • Hall of Fame Cheat Codes

I thought of a cool running thread that we can have. In this thread, people can say what cheat codes are Hall of Fame worthy. We can make a running list. I would prefer this Hall of Fame List of cheat codes to consist of cheat codes for games that were made for retro game consoles such as NES, SNES, and Genesis. But if you would like to include cheat codes for other game systems, go ahead. Be sure to include the creator of the cheat code, the name of the game, and the game console in which the game is for. The cheat codes that you believe should be in the Hall of Fame List should be based on this question:

What are the most creative/clever/interesting/amazing cheat codes you've ever seen?

It doesn't take much to impress me. I mostly like player modifiers in games where there are NPC's that are made playable.

One of my favorites for the Sega Genesis was:
Pitfighter - Player modifiers (PAR) - By Whipon

So far my favorite for SNES is:
The Combatribes - Player modifiers (PAR) - By Dukeodin

As for NES, its hard to say. There have been so many GG codes.

I know that these are simple codes by most hacker's standards, but they awesome in my view.

Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

              I agree with you here.

I always thought that the Walk Through walls code for goldeneye multiplayer was awesome, now we can go play the full maps but in MULTIPLAYER! no idea who made it or where the code is in the DB.

That would be pretty cool using walk through walls code while playing multiplayer. It would change people's strategies and much more. It would be like playing in one big open field (except not being able to see in the next room until you enter it)

whoops it was a walk through doors code, an actual walk through walls would have been cool though.

Is there a patch to this cheat? Because this cheat is a rediculous amount of codes to enter. So I was wondering if a patch existed. And if it doesn't, if somebody could make it please.

Nothing stands out in my mind. There are just those ones that are very useful for some games that aren't common like infinite health and unlimited ammo. I like the code I found to freeze everything except me in Resident Evil 4 for the PS2. It was unique to me as I've never seen a code to freeze everything you want, even though it isn't too unimaginable considering pausing a game does that too. There were also the codes for JamPack demo disks for PS1 that always gave you things like locked levels, characters, items, and whatever else not meant to be used in the demos. I almost never use anybody else's codes any more. I mainly just buy games, play them, see what codes already exist for them, find codes, done.

FNG seems to be good at making these nude codes. I remember when he posted the San Andreas code over at the GFCC forums. That was a shock to see and a good laugh.

I would normally say anything that disables restrictions (hit anywhere, walk through walls, etc.), allows you to access hidden stuff, or debug to be inducted. But it's the unique ones such as those that allow customization of the players, weapons, levels, etc that deserve Hall of Fame status to me. It's basically a whole new game with these hacks. They are sometimes hard to make depending on the game, and show immense dedication from the hacker(s) involved in the codes creation.

There's another code that I think is worthy of this too. A few days ago I just bought Super Mario 3 & tried out a code that was posted that I just absolutey love.

Fireballs Turn Most Solid Objects Into Coins
                            AAKXTIYP

This is such a cool code. I'll just sit there on a stage until I'm about run out of time, turning things into coins.

Parasyte's Jesus Mode for Zelda: Ocarina of Time was quite impressive.

I don't suppose it's fair to mention one of my own codes, but my Sprite Control Mod for Final Fantasy 7 (control any character in towns, etc) was pretty entertaining, as many have agreed.

The Super Ridiculous Code for Resident Evil 2 was also hilarious (I forget who hacked it).

There are probably others I haven't thought of.
