  • What is the most overrated video game for platforms NES, SNES, Genesis, & Arcade?

In my opinion, the most overrated video game for each of these platforms are as followed:

Arcade = Pac-Man - It is boring and repetitive after playing for a few minutes. The levels are nearly identicle. They should have been more creative and included more and different mazes/levels. And they should have implemented some extra features in the gameplay such as accomplishing different goals/missions. The cherries and other fruit should have more meaning and do something more than just give you points. The only goal in this game is to get the highest score possible which for alot of people is boring and not attractive. There also should have been an ending to this game instead of having it go on forever.

NES = Metroid - Although this game was advanced for it's time, the thing I hated most about this game was that alot of the levels looked and were nearly identicle to each other. I would have liked this game alot more if there weren't so many levels that looked the same. Just imagine if NES Zelda had nearly identicle looking levels, it would not have been as great as it is. Also, Metroid should have included a save feature like Zelda did. You can google why they didn't include the save feature if you would like to. I did not enjoy spending hours roaming around identicle looking levels trying to figure out where and what to do.

Genesis = Sonic the Hedgehogs - I know that this is the game that I will take the most heat for. I know it is loved by so many people. Sonic the Hedgehog is the face of Sega Genesis. Super Mario Brothers is the face of Nintendo. And I must say that the two don't even compare. These two series of games aren't even on the same level. The SMB games make the Sonic games look silly. Don't get me wrong, I do like Sonic the Hedgehog. I just think it's the most overrated Genesis game. I'm not a big fan of Sonic games but if I had to choose my favorite Sonic game for Genesis, it would be "Sonic 3D Blast".

Super Nintendo = Super Mario RPG - The only Super Mario game I didn't absolutely love. Now with this game, I am a little biased because I just don't like most RPG games. If I want to pounce on an enemy to kill them, I don't want to talk about it or select my action. I just want to perform my action and do it! And I want control over my action. I don't want to select an action from a list and see the game perform the action for me. I want to be the one performing and controlling the action. By the way, my favorite Super Nintendo game is Zelda: A Link to the Past (I don't know if that is considered a true RPG game). But if it is, then I guess I don't hate all RPG games.

Even though it isn't one of the categories, I thought the most overrated game for the Atari 2600 was E.T. They mass produced tons of those games & wasn't able to sell very many of them. This sparked the video game crash of 1983.
Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

Yes E.T. for Atari 2600 is considered one of the worst games of all-time. But since it's considered one of the worst games of all-time, I wouldn't consider it overrated since everyone knows and considers it one of the worst games of all-time. You could say that the producers of the game had completely overrated the game thinking that it would be a huge success. There was a rumor that Atari had buried thousands of extra/unsold E.T. games in the ground because they had so many left over that they couldn't sell.
